PROTECTIVE PANEL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE AND USE
The present invention is directed to an apparatus and system involving the use of a panel for protecting fenestrations in buildings such as windows and doors, from damage caused by storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, riots, and the like. Embodiments of the present invention include a substrate panel attached to a security film providing increased protection against wind-driven missiles associated with high winds with decreased weight and mitigating improper installation.
Modular Door
A door, such as a storm door, has modular components for attaching the door to a door frame primary door and for ornamental and functional customization of the storm door and primary door in a convenient manner. A secondary door can be attached to a primary frame of a primary door. At least one anchor mechanism includes a post element attached to the primary frame and an anchor that can be selectively attached to the post element, wherein the anchor includes at least one of and ornamental and a functional element. A secondary door includes a secondary frame, at least one door slab, and at least one hinge coupling the at least one door slab to the secondary frame. A least one hole is formed in the secondary from so that the post element of the anchor mechanism can extend through the at least one hole and the anchor can be attached to the post element to secure the secondary door to the primary frame. The anchor also can be attached to the post when the secondary door is not secured to the primary frame.
LIQUID CONTAINMENT DOOR WITH CONTINUOUS GASKET
A pedestrian door system includes a door frame comprising a frame strike side, a frame hinge side, and a frame sealing surface that extends up each of the frame strike and frame hinge sides. A threshold extends between the frame strike and frame hinge sides and includes a base secured to a floor surface and a threshold sealing surface. A door panel includes a panel bottom side, a panel strike side, a panel hinge side, and a continuous gasket extending continuously along the panel bottom side and up each of the panel strike and panel hinge sides. A door hinge couples the panel hinge side to the frame hinge side and facilitates hinged movement of the door panel between an open position and a closed position in which the gasket seals against the frame sealing surface and the threshold sealing surface in a liquid-tight manner.
Moveable robot block deployed to form a barrier and sense environmental conditions
Provided are a computer program product, moveable robot block, and method for a moveable robot block deployed to form a barrier and sense environmental conditions. A command is received to couple to a location in a coordinate system comprising the barrier formed of a plurality of moveable robot blocks. Movement motors are controlled to cause the moveable robot block to move to the location in the coordinate system to couple to the barrier according to the command. An environmental sensor senses an environmental condition related to water sensed external to the moveable robot block when the moveable robot block is coupled to the barrier. The environmental condition is transmitted to the assembly management system over the network.
Security screen mounting system and method therefor
A mounting system and method for security screens for use with windows having an exterior-facing accessory groove at the outer perimeter of the window frame is disclosed. The mounting system and method according to the present invention reduces materials cost for manufacture of security screens while improving aesthetics of the installation and permitting installation of security screens either at the construction site or during window manufacture, while preserving the window manufacturer's warranty. Exemplary embodiments both with and without a subframe are described.
Modular door
A secondary door can be attached to a primary frame of a primary door. At least one anchor mechanism includes a post element attached to the primary frame and an anchor that can be selectively attached to the post element, the anchor includes at least one of and ornamental and a functional element. The secondary door includes a secondary frame, at least one door slab, and at least one hinge coupling the at least one door slab to the secondary frame. A least one hole is formed in the secondary door so that the post element of the anchor mechanism can extend through the at least one hole and the anchor can be attached to the post element to secure the secondary door to the primary frame. The anchor also can be attached to the post when the secondary door is not secured to the primary frame.
Security shutter assembly
A decorative shutter assembly securable to an opening of a building for security and storm protection. The shutter assembly includes a shutter frame that is hingedly mounted within a mounting assembly. The shutter assembly includes a plurality of operable shutter slats that extend between vertical shutter columns. Each shutter slat includes an elongate decorative shell disposed over an inner skeletal structure. The inner skeletal structure includes a pair of spaced-apart lateral louver rods extending the length of the decorative shell and a plurality of end caps which are affixed at respective ends of the lateral louver rods. A central rod extends the length of the decorative shell and is arranged for mounting within the shutter columns to enable pivotal movement of the shutter slats between closed and open positions.
SECURITY APPARATUS FOR PROTECTING A SURFACE
A foundation for a system for protecting a surface is disclosed. The foundation comprises a base, a suction assembly, a shield and one or more supports. The suction assembly may include a suction member having a rim, and a pump. The suction member is configured to be releasably sealed against the surface. The shield may be mounted to the outer face of the base. The shield is disposed opposite to the suction member and is configured to obstruct penetration by a fastener into the portion of the outer face covered by the shield. The one or more supports are mounted to the outer face. Each support includes a ledge that extends outward from the base. Also disclosed is a system for boarding-up a window disposed in a structure.
MODULAR STORM SHELTER
The invention relates to a device for protecting building façades and/or building openings, thus for protecting windows and/or doors or the like, from storm conditions. A flat cover is provided comprising peripheral narrow surfaces with a peripheral frame element in the form of a profiled section.
The frame element is arranged in a peripheral manner about the flat cover along the narrow surfaces thereof. The arrangement about the flat cover along the narrow surfaces is carried out in segments or sub-elements. The individual sub-elements are fixed against one another and/or to one another by a wide variety of securing means which are not specified in greater detail. In the process, at least one of the sub-elements and/or the flat cover has devices for securing on or against another surface. The device is thus suitable for installing on building façades and/or in front of building openings.
Storm protection system
A storm protection system for a window or door unit located in a wall opening and having an outer frame, the system including at least one protective panel fit within the outer frame and wall opening, at least one pair of brackets connected to the outer frame at opposing sides of the wall opening and spaced from the front surface of the panel a first distance, at least one force distribution body with at least one alignment structure on the front surface and spaced from the rear surface a second distance that is greater than the first distance, at least one elongated flexible restraint extending between and connected to the at least two brackets is received by the alignment structure and when tensioned forces the at least one force distribution body against the at least one panel which forces the at least one panel against the window or door unit.
