RETRACTABLE CURTAIN PANEL AND ENHANCED STIFFENERS
According to some aspects, provided are curtain assemblies configured to operate in high wind environments. The curtain assembly can include first and second track guide including internal security rails. The internal securing rails moveably engage end portions of fabric stiffeners to provide stability in the curtain. In some embodiments, the securing rails include ramp portions to accommodate drift in the curtain and/or fabric stiffeners without compromising operation of the curtain.
BAHAMA/COLONIAL LOUVER SHUTTER
A shutter is provided. First and second side rails have cavities running in a direction from top to bottom, each cavity having an opening along a lateral side. A plurality of pairs of slat supports are present, each pair having a slat support mounted in the cavity of the first rail and mounted in the cavity of the second rail. Each slat support has a first section and a second section. The first section has a shape to slide into one of the cavities, and to stack and nest with an adjacent first section of another slat support in the one of the cavities. The second section protrudes through the opening of the one of the cavities. A plurality of slats are present, each slat being mounted on the second sections of one of the pairs of slat supports.
Protective panel and method of manufacture and use
The present invention is directed to an apparatus and system involving the use of a panel for protecting fenestrations in buildings such as windows and doors, from damage caused by storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, riots, and the like. Embodiments of the present invention include a substrate panel attached to a security film providing increased protection against wind-driven missiles associated with high winds with decreased weight and mitigating improper installation.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTING AN IMPROVED BI-FOLD SHUTTER
An improved bi-fold shutter that includes a more efficient coupling mechanism at a hinge point suited to facilitate opening and closing the bi-fold shutter with greater ease. In one embodiment, the shutter may be designed for a window such that the shutter, when closed, is relatively close to the face of the associated window, and when open, forms an awning or overhang. The shutter includes an improved coupling mechanism at a hinge point between a first shutter portion and a second shutter portion. The improved hinge point shifts a direction of force needed to maneuver the shutter when moving the shutter from one position to another. The shift in opening and closing force directions improves the efficiency by which the shutter can be operated. In some embodiments, the shutter may be hand-operated. In other embodiments, the shutter may be powered.
PRESS-FIT WINDOW INSERT
A press-fit window insert configured to provide secondary protection to an existing window, having a carrier, a fin, and a fastening clip. The carrier includes a substantially rigid framework having channels within the framework configured to securely accept one or more attachments. The fin extends from the carrier and includes a substantially flexible blade extending from a base portion of the fin. The base portion of the fin is configured to interlock the fin to the carrier. The fastening clip includes a substantially rigid brim extending from a base portion of the fastening clip. The base portion of the fastening clip is configured to interlock the fastening clip to the carrier.
FOLDABLE, IMPACT RESISTANT APPARATUS FOR PROTECTING GLASS PANELS
The present invention includes a foldable, impact resistant apparatus for protecting glass panels from projectile strikes. The object of this invention is to provide a unitary collapsible and foldable structure formed to provide impact protection to otherwise fragile glass of any window structure whether for a vehicle or a building. A further object is for the apparatus is to be easily deployed by a single person, easily folded away from the window structure or removed collapsed and folded for storage.
Window panel installation system for protection against strong winds
A temporary panel and panel system. The panel system comprises a fabric held in a two-part, snap-together connector system. The connector system is attachable to a window connector system to secure it temporarily until fasteners can be driven into the panel system and the channel of the window frame. The window connector includes a fastener boss that helps to hold the fasteners that hold the panel to the window frame. The fabric of the panel system is made of a geotextile. The marginal edge of the geotextile may be coated with urethane adhesive before being inserted between the two parts of the connector system. Placement of fasteners along the perimeter of the connector system is guided by a centering groove in the connector system that positions the fastener over a fastener boss in the window frame. The panel system, help temporarily in place to the window frame, may then be securely attached by fasteners driven into the connector system.
Shutter adjustment device
A shutter adjustment device for utilizing a tool such as a drill to easily and effortlessly raise or lower storm shutters. The shutter adjustment device generally includes a housing adapted to be connected between a drill and a shutter lever of a storm shutter. The housing may be connected to a drill such that the housing rotates when the drill is activated. The shutter lever may be removably engaged within a clamp assembly of the housing such that the shutter lever may be easily rotated by activating the drill. In this manner, the shutter may be easily raised or lowered with little effort using the drill.
Storm shutter bracket and attachment system
A storm shutter attachment system that provides for the temporary installation of a storm shutter against a window or a door during a period of extreme weather conditions, such as a hurricane or a tornado. The storm shutter utilizes an anchor pin and a retention pin to securely install within a building and exert a force against a storm shutter. A plurality of anchor pins and retention pins may be used to displace the pressure across the storm shutter, further protecting the window or door. A multipurpose tool is also provided that is couplable to the retention pin of the attachment system, allowing for a simple installation of the attachment system without requiring a professional.
Garage screen
A retractable dual screen system provides auxiliary environmental protection for garage door openings. An upper housing is mounted on an exterior of a garage door, including two rollers and is accessible for maintenance or repair by a removable cover. A first roller is a vinyl insect screening, and a second roller contains polyolefin material to provide an additional layer of insulation to help reduce heat loss and gain through the garage door. The second roller also provides a vapor barrier to help protect the garage door against high winds. A dual track system selectively allows both rollers to be independently deployed over the garage door opening.
