STORM SHUTTER BRACKET AND ATTACHMENT SYSTEM
20190136610 · 2019-05-09 · ·

A storm shutter attachment system that provides for the temporary installation of a storm shutter against a window or a door during a period of extreme weather conditions, such as a hurricane or a tornado. The storm shutter utilizes an anchor pin and a retention pin to securely install within a building and exert a force against a storm shutter. A plurality of anchor pins and retention pins may be used to displace the pressure across the storm shutter, further protecting the window or door. A multipurpose tool is also provided that is couplable to the retention pin of the attachment system, allowing for a simple installation of the attachment system without requiring a professional.

RAIN SHIELD FOR SINGLE AND DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS

A rain shield for an exterior architectural window may include a a generally rectangular-planar shield member. The shield may further include a pair of opposing panel members each having a clasp for engaging a window frame. The clasps may be hingedly joined to opposing sides of the shield member. Optionally, the shield member may be divided into inner and outer shield panels slideably engaging each other to form a width-adjustable structure.

Press fit storm window system

A system for mounting a panel within an existing window frame. The system includes an elongated fin portion and an elongated carrier. The fin portion has a ridge section, an extension extending from the base end of the ridge section, and a crosspiece coupled to a distal end of the extension. The ridge section tapers from its base end to a deflectable and compressible tip of the ridge section. The crosspiece includes a pair of shoulders at opposite ends of the crosspiece. Each shoulder protrudes laterally beyond the extension. The elongated carrier has a receiving slot opposite a panel gap. The receiving slot has a neck laterally narrower than an interior cavity of the receiving slot. The receiving slot is configured to securely receive the crosspiece of the bulb and to confine the shoulders of the crosspiece.

TRIM FOR MOUNTING EXTERIOR COVERINGS FOR WINDOWS

Aspects of a storm trim system are disclosed including a lineal base, a first removable lineal cap, and second removable lineal cap. The lineal base having a length, a depth, and a stacked screw boss formed therein running perpendicular to the length and parallel to the depth. The stacked screw boss accessible via an opening extending along the lineal base parallel to the length and perpendicular to the depth. The first removable lineal cap attachable to the lineal base. The first removable lineal cap having two legs configured to press-fit into the opening. Moreover, the second removable lineal cap attachable to the lineal base for further covering the opening over the first removable lineal cap or for covering the opening when the first removable lineal cap is removed. The second removable lineal cap is configured to flex around a portion of the lineal base and grip the lineal base.

Spring loaded screen fabric retention device
20240263514 · 2024-08-08 ·

A spring loaded screen fabric retention device in the form of a motor and spring combination for a hurricane screen fabric. The combination overcomes the change in torque for use with a motor driven hurricane screen fabric system, allowing the motor to operate if there is a change in the initial torque which otherwise will interrupt motor operation. The device allows vertical deployment of screen fabric when the motor is idle, which prevents the base slat from lifting during high wind loads. A spring torque between 100% to 150% of the curtain weight is maintained on the tubular motor used for lifting and deploying of the hurricane screen fabric.

FRAMELESS SUPPLEMENTAL WINDOW FOR FENESTRATION
20180347258 · 2018-12-06 ·

A supplemental window apparatus includes a foot and a first constraint element attached to the foot. The foot and the first constraint element are configured to be detachably coupled to a window pane of an existing window through a mating constraint element. A spacer is coupled to the foot and is configured to extend at least partially in a direction perpendicular to the window pane when installed on the existing window. A substantially non porous sheet is coupled to the spacer and has a sheet area substantially similar to a window pane area defined by the interior surfaces of the first window element holding the window pane. The spacer substantially defines a gap between the sheet and the window pane when installed on the existing window. The foot extends outward from the spacer toward the interior surfaces of the first window element.

Quick release system and method

A system and method for a quick release of a second object from a first object, e.g., quick release of hurricane panels (second object) from the inside of a habitable structure (first object). A stepped quick release bolt assembly or a dual quick release car assembly may be employed. In the preferred embodiment, a pin passing through a cross bored hole in a stepped bolt disposed in a receiving structure attached to a first object is releasable in order to disconnect the second object from the first object.

RAIN SHIELD FOR SINGLE AND DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS

A rain shield is provided for exterior architectural windows which prevents rain water from intruding into a dwelling. The rain shield may include a generally rectangular-planar shield member. The device may also include first and second lower fixed pivots disposed on a lower portion of opposing sides of the shield member. The first and second fixed pivots may be oppositely directed from each other and cooperate to pivot the device between stowed and deployed configurations. The rain shield may also include first and second lateral supports disposed on either side of the shield member.

Impact dampening protection device

An impact dampening device for protecting a structure, may include an impact dampening fixture; an attachment device provided on the dampening fixture for attaching the dampening fixture to the structure; and a mounting device provided on the dampening fixture, the mounting device being configured to have a protective panel mounted thereon, wherein the dampening fixture dampens a force applied to the protective panel to reduce or eliminate impact on the structure.

SHUTTER-TYPE ROLLABLE DEVICE FOR OCCLUDING AN OPENING, COMPRISING WATERTIGHT SEALING MEANS

A rollable device for occluding an opening of a residential building, includes a frame mounted in the opening and provided with at least two lateral guiding slides with a U-shaped cross-section, in order to define a general closure plane, and a set of transverse slats hinging relative to each other in pairs by the respective longitudinal edges thereof, the slats sliding within the two slides between a first inactive raised position in which the slats are wound about an upper transverse axis and a second active lowered position in which the slats are unwound and form an apron for closing the opening. The cross-section of the lateral slides is greater than the thickness of the slats and in the second active lowered position, the slats adopt a vertical accordion configuration in the lateral slides and form, relative to each other in pairs, an angle other than 180?.
