FLOOD PROTECTION APPARATUS
Flood protection apparatus for temporarily blocking a building opening (30) to guard against the ingress of flood water. The apparatus comprises a collapsible bag (10) formed from a watertight conformable material and has a filling means (20) for admitting a flowable filling medium to the bag (10) to expand the bag (10) from a collapsed state. When the bag (10) is disposed in the building opening (30) and filled, the bag (10) conforms to and seals against a periphery of the building opening (30) under the pressure of the filling medium to define a sealing region (A) across the building opening (30). A pair of buttress regions (B) are disposed on front and rear sides of the sealing region (A). The weight of the filling medium in the buttress regions (B) acts to prevent displacement of the bag (10) from the building opening (30).
FLOOD BARRIER GROUND SEALING ARRANGEMENT
A ground sealing arrangement for a portable flood barrier to be positioned on the ground includes a vertical wall and a main sealing layer forming a main body. The main sealing layer is impermeable to water. The ground sealing arrangement further includes a bottom sealing layer arranged on a ground-facing underside of the main sealing layer. The bottom sealing layer is attached to the main sealing layer at a distance from a peripheral edge of the main sealing layer that is most distal from the first edge of the ground sealing arrangement such that the bottom sealing layer has a free end extending from the point where the bottom sealing layer attaches to the main sealing layer towards the peripheral edge of the main sealing layer, and comprises a highly flexible and/or glutinous material which is stretchable and sticks to the ground when the material is soaked with water.
Flood control system
A flood control system is provided that allows an unobstructed view of the surrounding area when not in use. The flood control system comprises a base and at least one foundation coupled to the base. The base is positioned below a grade to protect an area from the encroachment of fluid or semi-solids. An expandable barrier is removably coupled to a channel in the base. The expandable barrier is inflated with a source of pressurized fluid to form a barrier to prevent the encroachment of fluid or semi-solids to the protected area.
FLOOD VENT HAVING A PANEL
According to one embodiment, a flood vent panel includes a plurality of insulation pieces positioned together, and a panel frame surrounding the plurality of insulation pieces. The flood vent panel is configured to be coupled to a frame positionable on a structure, so as to at least partially block a fluid passageway through an opening in the structure. Each of the plurality of insulation pieces is separate from the other insulation pieces of the plurality of insulation pieces. Each of the plurality of insulation pieces is separate from the panel frame.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING STRUCTURES
Systems and methods are disclosed for protecting structures. In example embodiments, one or more waterproof barrier panels are sealed to one or more exterior walls of the structure. In other example embodiments, the barrier system comprises a plurality of sealing elements, protective panels and, optionally, tracks comprising shackles or hooks for suspending the protective panels. The barrier panel optionally comprises a thermoplastic olefin, and further optionally comprises a fire-resistant material.
FLOOD VENT HAVING A PANEL
According to one embodiment, a flood vent panel includes a first area, a second area, and a first set of one or more perforations positioned on a first side of the flood vent panel in a location in-between the first area and the second area. The perforations are configured to break when at least a predetermined amount of pressure is applied to a portion of the second area. The flood vent panel is configured to be coupled, at least indirectly, to a structure so as to at least partially block a fluid passageway through an opening in the structure. The break is configured to completely separate the second area from the first area so as to reduce an amount of blockage of the fluid passageway.
MOVEABLE ROBOT BLOCK DEPLOYED TO FORM A BARRIER AND SENSE ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Provided are a computer program product, moveable robot block, and method for a moveable robot block deployed to form a barrier and sense environmental conditions. A command is received to couple to a location in a coordinate system comprising the barrier formed of a plurality of moveable robot blocks. Movement motors are controlled to cause the moveable robot block to move to the location in the coordinate system to couple to the barrier according to the command. An environmental sensor senses an environmental condition related to water sensed external to the moveable robot block when the moveable robot block is coupled to the barrier. The environmental condition is transmitted to the assembly management system over the network.
Flexible covering for door and window openings
The present disclosure is directed to a flood barrier designed for the dry-flood proofing of door and window openings in a building. The flood barrier includes a rigid frame, preferably formed of metal extrusions. To this frame are clamped a water-impervious barrier and a sacrificial bladder to protect the water-impervious barrier from impacts by wind- or water-borne, debris and impacts. A number of webbings may be provided on the side of the water-impervious barrier opposite the sacrificial bladder to further support the water barrier layer. Sealing gaskets are provided on the rigid frame where the frame contacts the building, or in case of a door opening, also the floor. The sacrificial bladder permits water to accumulate between the sacrificial bladder and the water-impervious layer thereby utilizing the non-compressible nature of the water to attenuate the impacting force.
SYSTEM AND DEVICES FOR PREVENTING WATER INFILTRATION
A system, and methods, for preventing fluid infiltration. The fluid infiltration preventing system comprises a horizontal insert foam blocker and a vertical foam blocker. The fluid infiltration preventing system is configured to prevent penetration or infiltration of fluids, such as water, and preferably wind driven water, into an interior region.
Flood vent
According to one embodiment, a flood vent includes a frame forming a fluid passageway through an opening in a structure. The flood vent further includes a door pivotally mounted to the frame in the fluid passageway for allowing a fluid to flow through the fluid passageway. The door has two opposing faces that include a first face and a second face. The flood vent further includes a first float positioned within the door in a location in-between the first face and a second float. Additionally, the first float is configured to allow the door to pivot in a first direction. The flood vent further includes the second float positioned within the door in a location in-between the second face and the first float. Furthermore, the second float is configured to allow the door to pivot in a second direction.
