Security for grate covering underground air vents
Apparatus and process for securing a grating over an atmospheric opening of a ventilation shaft fluidly communicating through the ventilation shaft to an underground ventilation duct. A vertically extending support for arrangement in the shaft has horizontal flanges for projecting across a top of at least two opposing sides of said shaft to hang said support in said shaft for over topping by said grating. An anchoring member is supported in the support at a level below the flanges and proximate the atmospheric opening. A hold-down connects to the anchoring member to secure the hold-down and the grating to the anchoring member.
Flood vent having a panel
According to one embodiment, a flood vent panel includes a plurality of insulation pieces positioned together, and a panel frame surrounding the plurality of insulation pieces. The flood vent panel is configured to be coupled to a frame positionable on a structure, so as to at least partially block a fluid passageway through an opening in the structure. Each of the plurality of insulation pieces is separate from the other insulation pieces of the plurality of insulation pieces. Each of the plurality of insulation pieces is separate from the panel frame.
Flood Control System
A flood control system is provided that allows an unobstructed view of the surrounding area when not in use. The flood control system comprises a base and at least one foundation coupled to the base. The base is positioned below a grade to protect an area from the encroachment of fluid or semi-solids. An expandable barrier is removably coupled to a channel in the base. The expandable barrier is inflated with a source of pressurized fluid to form a barrier to prevent the encroachment of fluid or semi-solids to the protected area.
Door device
The invention provides a door device (1) adapted to provide a watertight condition against an external surface, the door device (1) comprising a main support surface (2), a main spar (10), first and second main closing elements (3, 4), first, second, third and fourth connecting elements (5, 6, 7, 8), primary guiding elements (91, 92), a transversal element (11) comprising an auxiliary closing wedge (111) and secondary guiding elements (93, 94), wherein along the movement of the main spar (10) between a first inactive position and a second watertight position, the movement of each second connecting element (6) is limited by the corresponding primary guiding element (91, 92) to the direction of said primary guiding element (91, 92), making the first and second main closing elements (3, 4) exit a main area (2a). When the main spar (10) is in the watertight position, the watertight gap is equal to the length of the watertight side of the auxiliary closing wedge (111). The invention also provides a watertight system and a method.
Flood vent having a panel
According to one embodiment, a flood vent panel includes a first area, a second area, and a first set of one or more perforations positioned on a first side of the flood vent panel in a location in-between the first area and the second area. The perforations are configured to break when at least a predetermined amount of pressure is applied to a portion of the second area. The flood vent panel is configured to be coupled, at least indirectly, to a structure so as to at least partially block a fluid passageway through an opening in the structure. The break is configured to completely separate the second area from the first area so as to reduce an amount of blockage of the fluid passageway.
Flood-Resistant Wall
A wall panel for building construction comprising a frame made of a plurality of non-porous studs or channels; a flat wall material movably attached to the frame such that the flat wall material may be moved in preparation for a flood event; and one or more adjustable or telescoping legs pivotally attached to the flat wall material, the legs designed to hold the wall material substantially perpendicular to the floor in preparation for a flood event. The wall panel enables the home or business owner to lift the flat wall material out of harm's way in the event of an expected flood and further allows the home or business owner to store personal items on the wall panel in the event of an expected flood.
Inflatable flood barrier
The inflatable flood barrier is a temporary dike. The inflatable flood barrier forms a water impermeable barrier that contains and controls the flow of flood water. The inflatable flood barrier is a temporary structure that can move as required for the control of flood water. The inflatable flood barrier comprises a plurality of curtains, a plurality of floating bladders, a plurality of bed bladders, and a plurality of fasteners. The each of the plurality of fasteners attaches a first curtain selected from the plurality of curtains to a second curtain selected from the plurality of curtains. The plurality of floating bladders forms a floatation structure that raises the plurality of curtains to form a vertical barrier that contains and controls the flow of flood water. The plurality of bed bladders anchors the inflatable flood barrier to the flood bed.
TEMPORARY WATER BARRIER TO PREVENT FLOODING THROUGH RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL DOORS
A temporary water barrier for residential and commercial doors. The temporary water barrier is an inflatable bladder that is configured to be installed in a doorway and inflated to create a barrier to water within the jam of the door or opening beneath the door. The elongate bladder has sealed ends, an inflation valve to communicate an inflation fluid to an interior of the bladder. A resilient seal may be provided along one or more of a top surface and a bottom surface of the bladder. A notch may be defined in the bladder with the notch dimensioned to fit around a hinge supporting the door in the doorway.
Flood barrier ground sealing arrangement
Embodiments herein relate to a ground sealing arrangement for a portable flood barrier further comprising a vertical wall. The ground sealing arrangement is arranged to be positioned on the ground. The ground sealing arrangement comprises a main sealing layer forming a main body of the ground sealing arrangement. The main sealing layer is impermeable to water. The ground sealing arrangement further comprises a bottom sealing layer arranged on a ground-facing underside of the main sealing layer. The bottom sealing layer is attached to the main sealing layer at a distance L from a peripheral edge of the main sealing layer which is most distal from the first edge of the ground sealing arrangement such that the bottom sealing layer has a free end extending from the point where the bottom sealing layer attaches to the main sealing layer towards the peripheral edge of the main sealing layer, and comprises a highly flexible and/or glutinous material which is stretchable and sticks to the ground when the material is soaked with water.
Dropdown Flood Barrier
A dropdown flood barrier (100) is disclosed, which comprises at least one panel (102) and an associated counterweight (104), the panel configured to be movable between an elevated position and a lowered position in cooperation with the counterweight; and at least one rotatable drive (106) coupled to the panel, and is configured such that rotation of the rotatable drive enables the panel to be moved from the elevated position to the lowered position, the rotatable drive includes a brake arranged to exert a force against the rotation of the rotatable drive when a speed of the rotation exceeds a predetermined threshold, wherein in use, the rotatable drive is activated to enable the panel to controllably move under its own weight from the elevated position to the lowered position to form a barrier against flood water, the controllable movement of the panel enabled by the brake of the rotatable drive and the counterweight.
