An example laser tool is configured to operate within a wellbore of a hydrocarbon-bearing rock formation. The tool includes one or more optical transmission media. The one or more optical transmission media are part of an optical path originating at a laser generator configured to generate a laser beam. The one or more optical transmission media are for passing the laser beam. The tool includes a mono-optic element that is part of the optical path. The mono-optic element is for receiving the laser beam from the one or more optical transmission media and for altering at least one of a geometry or a direction of the laser beam for output to the hydrocarbon-bearing rock formation. The tool also includes one or more sensors to monitor one or more conditions in the wellbore and to output signals based on the one or more conditions.

Apparatus and method for cleaning rock debris when deep-water surface drilling is done

The present disclosure provides an apparatus and method for cleaning rock debris when deep-water surface drilling is done. The apparatus for cleaning rock debris when deep-water surface drilling is done comprises: an open barrel having an open through groove which is axially provided; a plurality of debris cleaning mechanisms connected to the open barrel at an interval in a circumferential direction of the open barrel, wherein each of the debris cleaning mechanisms comprises: a fixed block connected to an outer wall of the open barrel; a debris cleaning leg having one end rotatably connected to the fixed block, and the other end provided with a debris cleaning impeller; and a pull rod having one end connected to the outer wall of the open barrel above the fixed block, and the other end movably connected to the debris cleaning leg. The present disclosure not only cleans a large amount of rock debris accumulated around the seabed surface conduit while drilling is done in the deep-water surface drilling process, but also achieves the purpose of continuous working in the deep-water surface drilling process, without the need of frequent tripping in and out in midway to adjust the position of the apparatus for cleaning rock debris when deep-water surface drilling is done.

A toroidal air blade tool for mounting on top of a blow-out preventer is provided. The tool can include upper and lower toroidal ring halves that form a plenum and a circumferential orifice when assembled together. Compressed gas or pressurized fluid introduced into the plenum exits the orifice in the form of frustoconical gas or fluid blade that can strip off mud and produced substances from tubulars being removed from a well.

Pipe wiper box

The pipe wiper assembly of the present invention assists with wiping the pipe as the pipe is removed from the hole (tripped out). The pipe passes through the two pipe apertures of the pipe wiper assembly during the removal. Two upper containment arms adjust between an open position and a closed position within the housing to form the upper pipe aperture. The lower containment lip forms the lower piper aperture. The upper containment arms and lower containment lip partially enclose the housing to prevent the wiper from exiting the wiper storage. The containment arms slideably adjust to eliminate the need for hinges. The removal of the hinges provides for easier storage and transportation of the pipe wiper assembly. The removal of hinges also reduces manufacturing costs of the pipe wiper assembly.
