Coiled tubing system

A coiled tubing system (10) for use in deploying a tubing string (12) into a conduit (14) comprises the tubing string (12) and a fluid discharge apparatus (26) disposed at a distal end of the tubing string (12). The tubing string (12) includes a first tubing portion (28) comprising composite coiled tubing and a second tubing portion (30) comprising metallic coiled tubing. The system (10) is configured to deploy the tubing string (12) and the fluid discharge apparatus (26) into the conduit (14), the fluid discharge apparatus (26) operable to generate pressure pulses which facilitate transport of the tubing string (12) further along the conduit 14.

The apparatus comprises an elongate body having an exterior surface extending between top and bottom ends, a connector at the bottom end operable to be secured above the tool and at least one passage formed into the exterior surface defining a first flow path having an entrance and an exit oriented towards the top end of the elongate body. The method comprises securing the elongate body to a top end of a tool in a wellbore, directing a flow of fluid down the wellbore to a position above the elongate body, separating the flow of the fluid into an inner portion and an outer portion through radially separated paths and redirecting the inner portion to flow upwards into the outer portion of the flow of the fluid.

Borehole Data Transmission Method for Flowed Back Borehole Plugs with a Lower Slip Assembly or Object Landed on Said Plugs

A borehole plug or packer for treating is designed to be flowed back to a surface location after use. When the treatment is concluded pressure from above is relieved or lowered, and well fluid is flowed back, so that the plug or plugs disengages at slips designed to resist differential pressure from above. The application of differential pressure from below causes the lower slips to release one or more of such plugs in the hole into specialized sub surface or surface capture equipment so that well pressure is relieved before removal of the plugs from specialized subsurface or surface capture equipment. Sensors to obtain and store data can be incorporated into the plugs or into objects landed on the plugs so that when brought to the surface the data can be processed and used in aid of production.

Downhole apparatus

Downhole apparatus comprises first and second tools for location in a tubing string. The first tool has a first seat of a first diameter and the second tool has a second seat of a second diameter larger than the first diameter. First and second activating devices are provided for use in activating the respective first and second tools. The first activating device includes a first activating profile having an extended diameter larger than the first diameter and smaller than the second diameter and a retracted diameter smaller than the first diameter. The second activating device includes a second activating profile having an extended diameter larger than the second diameter and a retracted diameter smaller than the first diameter.
