Web protectors for use in a downhole tool
Apparatus, systems and methods provide protection for components of a downhole tool by using a liner and/or web protector to minimize, block, or prevent erosion of a pillar component, which is adjacent to an opening of the downhole tool, during activation and operation of the downhole tool. The downhole tool comprises a body having an external surface and internal volume configured to store thermite fuel, wherein the thermite fuel is configured to ignite into a molten thermite fuel. The downhole tool comprises an opening extending from the internal volume through the external surface, and a pillar defining one side of the opening, wherein the opening is configured to project the molten thermite fuel. The downhole tool includes web protectors, abutting at least an internal side of the pillar, to block the molten thermite fuel from impinging the internal side of the pillar, thus protecting the components of the downhole tool.
Downhole impact apparatus
Apparatus and methods for creating a downhole impact. The apparatus may be an impact tool operable to be coupled between portions of a tool string conveyable within a wellbore extending into a subterranean formation. The impact tool may include a housing, a chamber within the housing, a piston slidably disposed within the chamber and dividing the chamber into a first chamber volume and a second chamber volume, and a shaft connected with the piston and axially movable with respect to the housing. The first chamber volume may be open to a space external to the housing and the second chamber volume may be fluidly isolated from the space external to the housing. The piston may be maintained in a predetermined position within the chamber to maintain pressure within the second chamber volume appreciably lower than pressure within the first chamber volume while the impact tool is conveyed along the wellbore.
RESCUE DART FOR PRE-SET FRAC PLUG AND RELATED METHODS
A rescue dart for deployment down a wellbore to dislodge a pre-set frac plug having a plug mandrel from within the wellbore is provided. The rescue dart includes a dart body adapted to be conveyed down the wellbore via fluid flow and a mandrel defeater connected to the dart body and operable to reduce structural integrity of a portion of the plug mandrel until structural failure of the plug mandrel occurs and the frac plug is unset and dislodged. A corresponding system is also provided. The system includes the rescue dart and a pump for pumping fluids down the wellbore. A method of dislodging a pre-set frac plug using the rescue dart is also provided.
Downhole disconnect tool
A downhole tool for connecting and selectively disconnecting within a wellbore first and second portions of a downhole tool string from each other. The downhole tool may include a first connector sub connectable with the first portion of the downhole tool string, a second connector sub connectable with the second portion of the downhole tool string, an internal chamber, and a fastener connecting the first and second connector subs. The fastener may fluidly separate the internal chamber into a first chamber portion and a second chamber portion. The first chamber portion may be fluidly connected with a space external to the downhole tool. The downhole tool may be selectively operable to disconnect the first and second connector subs from each other to disconnect the first and second portions of the downhole tool string from each other.
AUTOMATIC DRILLER
An automatic drilling apparatus having a tool body, a motive device connected to the tool body, and a drill bit connected to the tool body. The apparatus also includes a setting tool connected to the body, at least one sensor disposed on the tool body, and a computer disposed in the tool body, wherein the computer is configured to actuate the motive device, the drill bit, the setting tool, and the at least one sensor.
Wellbore plug isolation system and method
A wellbore plug isolation system and method for positioning plugs to isolate fracture zones in a horizontal, vertical, or deviated wellbore is disclosed. The system/method includes a wellbore casing laterally drilled into a hydrocarbon formation, a wellbore setting tool (WST) that sets a large inner diameter (ID) restriction sleeve member (RSM), and a restriction plug element (RPE). The WST is positioned along with the RSM at a desired wellbore location. After the WST sets and seals the RSM, a conforming seating surface (CSS) is formed in the RSM. The CSS is shaped to engage/receive RPE deployed into the wellbore casing. The engaged/seated RPE isolates heel ward and toe ward fluid communication of the RSM to create a fracture zone. The RPE's are removed or left behind prior to initiating well production without the need for a milling procedure. A large ID RSM diminishes flow constriction during oil production.
MILLING APPARATUS WITH STABILIZATION FEATURE
An apparatus for removing at least a section of a tubular includes an axially elongated body configured to be advanced through an inner tubular in a borehole to a selected location, the inner tubular disposed within an outer tubular in the borehole and having a diameter that is less than a diameter of the outer tubular. The apparatus also includes a cutter configured to be actuated between a closed position in which the cutter is disposed within the body and an open position in which the cutter extends radially, the cutter having a length sufficient to engage and cut the outer tubular, the cutter configured to be advanced in an axial cutting direction as the outer tubular is cut. The apparatus further includes an automatic stabilization member disposed on the cutter, the stabilization member configured to restrict lateral movement of the cutter by contacting the outer tubular during cutting.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CLEARING A WELL BORE
Methods and apparatuses are provided for clearing a wellbore using a component for milling and a component for suctioning within a wellbore. Obstructions such as ball frac seats, bridge plugs, or formation material can be milled within a wellbore. As a result, larger, unrestricted, diameters can be obtained within the liner/wellbore. The cleared wellbore can allow for various remedial tools to be run into the liner/wellbore. In addition, the milled particles can be suctioned/vacuumed up and can be pumped/pushed to surface in an underbalanced fashion. In some embodiments, this can be achieved by incorporating a bottom-hole pump or a venturi component into the bottomhole assembly. The system can be deployed using a spoolable single or multi-conduit coiled tubing system and can be configured as a well intervention or work-over technology. In some embodiments, the clearing equipment can be temporary or mobile.
Downhole laser tool and methods
A laser system for freeing downhole equipment includes a laser tool having an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of the downhole equipment and a means for generating a ring-shaped collimated laser beam. The laser system further includes a work string with the inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the downhole equipment. The laser tool is installed on the work string and the work string is lowered around the downhole equipment. Upon lowering the work string to a position in which the laser tool is located proximate to an obstruction of the downhole tool, the laser tool emits the ring-shaped collimated laser beam so as to clear out an annulus space between the downhole equipment and a wellbore wall in order to free the downhole equipment.
ANNULAR CUTTER CATCHING DEVICES
