An easy building-up hybrid rotary steerable drilling system includes a front supporting body, a weight-on-bit (WOB)-torque-on-bit (TOB) deflectable transmission joint and a deflection control system. The WOB-TOB deflectable transmission joint includes a universal joint. A front end of the front supporting body is fixedly connected to a drill bit, and a rear end of the front supporting body is fixedly connected to an outlet end of the universal joint. A front push-the-bit assembly is provided on a circumferential surface of the front supporting body. The deflection control system controls radial push-the-bit parts of the front push-the-bit assembly to push a borehole wall along a radial direction of the front supporting body, such that the front supporting body generates a deviation angle relative to an input shaft of the universal joint by taking a center point of the universal joint as a center, thereby controlling a drilling direction.

A downhole access tool for accessing a lateral branch of a wellbore includes a tool body, a sliding sleeve, and a deflector device including a deflector plate and a deflector actuator operatively coupled to the deflector plate. A central conduit extends axially through the downhole access tool. The sliding sleeve is slidable relative to the tool body in an axial direction between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the sliding sleeve restricts access through the opening. In the open position, the sliding sleeve permits access through the opening. The deflector actuator transitions the deflector plate between a deflection position and a passthrough position. In the deflection position, the deflector plate deflects tooling radially outward towards the opening. In the passthrough position, the deflector plate allows access axially through the central conduit.

One leg of the junction assembly may include a surface profiled corresponding to an angle of the first incline to deflect the leg toward the lateral borehole. Another leg of the junction assembly may include a surface profiled corresponding to an angle of the second incline to deflect the leg toward a whipstock assembly positioned internal to the window assembly.

A multilateral junction comprising a y-block and a port seal member. The y-block comprises a main bore, a lateral bore, and lateral port formed in the y-block. The port seal member is integrated within the main bore and has at least one of an opened, closed, and choked position. The multilateral junction also includes one or more gaskets configured to hydraulically isolate the lateral bore when the port seal member is in a closed position. The multilateral junction may further include a controller coupled to the port seal member for performing at least one of an opening, closing, and choking operation on the port seal member. The y-block is a single, machined object with the main bore and the lateral bore formed therein. The multilateral junction is useful in applications that require pressure tight seals and minimal restriction of the internal diameter of a main bore.

The apparatus may include: a running tool connected to a work string, wherein the running tool contains an inner bore being located at a distal end of the running tool; a swing arm having a locating head, the swing arm being pivotally attached within an inner cavity in the running tool, wherein the locating head has a retracted position within the running tool and an extended position extending from the running tool, and wherein the locating head has a shearing surface at an aft end; a biasing member disposed within the inner bore, the biasing member configured to create a force in the direction of the locating head; a shearing rod operatively positioned within the inner bore and engaging a first end of the biasing member so that the shearing rod extends from the inner bore in the direction out of the inner bore towards the locating head, wherein the shearing rod contains a series of individual grooves; and wherein the shearing surface is configured to engage and shear the individual grooves of the shearing rod at a predetermined force in multiple, individual cycles.

Machine Learning with Physics-based Models to Predict Multilateral Well Performance

A system and method for machine learning with physics-based models to predict multilateral well performance are provided. An exemplary method enables obtaining data associated with well completion, data associated with inflow control valves, and reservoir attributes of multilateral wells. Production scenarios are generated based on the data associated with well completion, the data associated with inflow control valves, and the reservoir attributes of the multilateral wells. The production scenarios are input into a physics-based model of the multilateral wells, and simulation data associated with the multilateral wells output from the physics-based model is obtained. A neural network based machine learning model is trained using the simulation data associated with the multilateral wells and target parameters associated with the multilateral wells, wherein the trained machine learning model is configured to predict multilateral well production parameters.

The lower housing is configured to be coupled at an upper longitudinal end to at least one of (i) a spacer spool disposed between the upper pipe injector housing and the lower pipe injector housing, and (ii) the lower longitudinal end of the upper pipe injector housing.
