Automated Waste Disposal System for Waste Tank at Wellsite
20220268134 · 2022-08-25 ·

A sand disposal system is used with a sand management arrangement that handles flow-back of sand and other solid materials in a slurry of flow from well(s) at wellsite(s). The sand disposal system includes a tank filling module that mounts on a disposal tank at a wellsite. The module controls and weighs the disposal of the solid material or sand into the tank by actuating a flap and sensing weight with a weight sensor. The module also monitors the level in the tank to determine when emptying of the tank is needed. A control system can control operations of the module in conjunction with the other processes of the sand management arrangement.

Systems and methods for exchanging fracturing components of a hydraulic fracturing unit

Systems and methods for exchanging fracturing components of a hydraulic fracturing unit and may include an exchangeable fracturing component section to facilitate quickly exchanging a fracturing component of a hydraulic fracturing unit. The fracturing component section may include a section frame including a base, and a fracturing component connected to the base. The fracturing component section also may include a component electrical assembly and a component fluid assembly connected to the section frame. The fracturing component section further may include a coupling plate connected to the section frame. The fracturing component section also may include one or more of a plurality of quick-connect electrical couplers or a plurality of quick-connect fluid couplers connected to a coupling plate. The quick-connect electrical and fluid couplers may be positioned to receive respective electrical and fluid connections of the component electrical and fluid assemblies and connect to other portions of the hydraulic fracturing unit.

Hazardous waste disposal using directional angled drilling

A method of this disclosure directionally drills at least one well extending from ground surface to an interior of an underground mine located below ground, the well being at an oblique angle relative to vertical; blends or mixes together a hazardous material, like lead, zinc, arsenic, and cadmium with cement including a plasticizer; pumps or flows the mixture into the well, wherein the mixture flows toward a lower end of the mine and hardens in place. The method allows for the permanent placement of contaminated mixtures like chat into mines or shafts or depositories, as defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, CERCLA and Superfund laws and complies with rules for the permanent closing of these structures with contaminated material and contaminated substances.

Hazardous material repository systems and methods

A power generator system includes one or more heat transfer members configured to contact: a heat source in a hazardous waste repository of a directional drillhole that stores nuclear waste in one or more nuclear waste canisters, and a heat sink in the hazardous waste repository; and one or more thermoelectric generators thermally coupled to the one or more heat transfer members and configured to generate electric power based on a temperature difference between the heat source and the heat sink.

Device to Prevent Marl Erosion in Reserved Water and Mud Waste Pits at Drilling Sites
20210332547 · 2021-10-28 ·

A device to prevent the clay liner erosion of drilling site reserved water and mud waste pits by dissipating the energy of fluid(s) discharged to those pits. An economic and reusable device to prevent the erosion of the compacted clay (marl) layer of water reserve and drilling fluid waste pits at onshore drill sites by dissipating the energy of the fluids and/or solids discharged into the pits. The device consists of an approximately several square meters of rectangular lining that can be manufactured from synthetics, composite, or metal which is securely anchored under the fluid discharge pipes so that it safely dissipates the energy of the fluids/solids discharged into the pit thus preventing the underlying clay (marl) liner erosion and hence water loss or contamination of the underlying soil and shallow groundwater.

Optimizing waste slurry disposal in fractured injection operations

Methods and apparatus are provided for optimizing operations for a fracturing injection waste disposal well especially where the formation is damaged or tight such that pressure fall-off tests are impractical due to extended leak-off rate times. Formation closure pressure and formation stress are calculated using Instantaneous Shut-in Pressure rather than traditional methods requiring actual fracture closure.

Radioactive waste repository systems and methods

A hazardous material repository includes a drillhole formed from a terranean surface into a subterranean zone that includes a geologic formation, where the drillhole includes a vertical portion and a non-vertical portion coupled to the vertical portion by a transition portion, the non-vertical portion includes a storage volume for hazardous waste; a casing installed between the geologic formation and the drillhole, the casing including one or more metallic tubular sections; at least one canister positioned in the storage volume of the non-vertical portion of the drillhole, the at least one canister sized to enclose a portion of hazardous material and including an outer housing formed from a non-corrosive metallic material; and a backfill material inserted into the non-vertical portion of the drillhole to fill at least a portion of the storage volume between the at least one canister and the casing.

OILFIELD LIQUID WASTE PROCESSING FACILITY AND METHODS

Systems and methods for processing one or more waste fluids by measuring one or more properties of a waste fluid and adjusting the flow and/or flowability of the waste fluid based on the measurement are disclosed. The one or more properties of the waste fluid can include a viscosity of the waste fluid, a pressure of the waste fluid, and/or or a difference in pressure of the waste fluid. Adjusting the flow and/or flowability of the waste fluid can include adjusting the one or more properties of the waste fluid and/or affecting the direction of flow of the waste fluid in a manner which changes the destination of the waste fluid.

Method and composition for stabilization of drill cuttings
11066881 · 2021-07-20 ·

A method and composition for stabilizing drill cuttings commences by providing precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). The PCC is dried to a moisture level of about 10% or less. Drying by heat not to exceed 400° F. is preferred to prevent changes in the PCC. The dried PCC is blended with kiln dust to compose a generally uniform admixture. In the admixture, the kiln dust is not to exceed 40%. The admixture is introduced to the drill cuttings to initiate a nucleation reaction within the commixture of drill cuttings and the admixture.
