Further, the system includes a bubble pump positioned within the wellbore that is configured to circulate the working fluid between the fluid circuit of the power generation assembly and the wellbore via a thermosiphon effect.

A mud turbine apparatus includes a rotor including an inner ring configured to be positioned around a drill pipe, an outer ring that is positioned around and spaced apart from the inner ring, a plurality of magnets coupled to the outer ring, and a plurality of blades coupled to and extending between the inner ring and the outer ring. The apparatus also includes a stator including a housing configured to fit into an annulus between the drill pipe and a surrounding tubular, and to receive the outer ring at least partially therein, and a plurality of coils that communicate with the magnets, such that in a first mode of operation, the rotor rotates to assist fluid flow therethrough and decrease drilling fluid pressure in the annulus, and in a second mode of operation, the rotation of the rotor impedes fluid flow therethrough and increases drilling fluid pressure in the annulus.

Systems and methods for recycling excess energy

A system for and method of use with a downhole tool that includes a tubular with a fluid flow path therethrough for flowing a fluid and a housing coupleable to a downhole portion of the tubular. A fluid-driven motor assembly is included and has a drive shaft rotatable to output rotational drive forces. An electric generator is coupled to the drive shaft to convert the rotational drive forces into electrical power. There is also an electric motor electrically coupled to the electric generator to convert electrical output of the electric generator into a rotational drive force to control the downhole tool. A controller is electrically coupled to the electric motor and the electric generator to conduct electrical power output from the electric motor to the electric generator and dissipate excess energy produced by the electric motor to the fluid-driven motor assembly as hydraulic energy.

ELECTRIC, BATTERY-POWERED WIRELINE SYSTEMS

A wireline system includes an operations cabin with a plurality of electrical devices, and a winch that includes an electric winch motor operable to drive a drum to manipulate a wireline cable. A first engine and a first electric generator are each arranged within the operations cabin and generate electrical power, a second electric generator driven by a second engine via a power takeoff to generate electrical power, and an umbilical extends from the operations cabin to an external energy source to provide electrical power. A battery pack is arranged within the operations cabin and includes rechargeable batteries communicably coupled to the electric generators and the umbilical, wherein the battery pack solely provides electrical power to the electric winch motor and the electrical devices, and wherein the electric generators and the external energy source provide electrical power to recharge the rechargeable batteries.

The tool flow path(s) is selectively openable or closable, such that upon exiting the tool flow path(s) the combustion products interact with a target, the interaction causing material to be removed from the target.

A waveform energy generation system, the system including at least one joint of production casing, and one or more energy generators residing along the joint of production casing. The energy generators are configured to be in substantial mechanical contact with a subsurface formation within a wellbore. The energy generators may include either explosive devices or a piezo-electric material. The system also includes a signal transmission system. The signal transmission system is used to send control signals from the surface down to the energy generators for activation at the formation's resonant frequency. Methods of enhancing the permeability of a rock matrix within a subsurface formation using the wellbore as an energy generator are also provided.
