MITIGATING WATER INCLUSION IN DOWNHOLE PUMPS
Downhole pumps may include, at the inlet, a component that reduces the amount of water taken up by the pump. For example, a downhole assembly may include a tool string that includes a fluid pump, a fluid intake subassembly, a motor, and a downhole control system each coupled such that a fluid flowing into the fluid intake assembly is conveyed to the fluid pump; one or more inlets defined in the fluid intake subassembly; a flow line fluidly coupled to at least one of the one or more inlets and containing a filter component that contains a filter media at least partially coated with a relative permeability modifier (RPM), wherein the fluid flowing through the flow line contacts the RPM.
Direct Drive Motor-based Walking Beam Pumping Unit
The invention discloses a direct drive motor-based walking beam pumping unit, comprising a base; a support is arranged at the upper end of the base; a walking beam is arranged at the upper end of the support; a horsehead is arranged at a first of the walking beam; a lifting rope is arranged on the horsehead and a beam hanger is arranged on the lifting rope; a balance weight is arranged at a second end of the walking beam away from the horsehead; a barrel is arranged at the upper end of the base; a direct drive motor is arranged at the upper end of the barrel. The invention cancels the combination of belt, belt pulley and reducer conventionally used in the pumping unit, greatly lowering the failure rate of the pumping unit, decreasing the frequency of maintenance and service, reducing the cost in use and improving the production efficiency.
System to control and optimize the injection of CO2 and real time monitoring of CO2 plume leaks
Injection of CO.sub.2 may be controlled and optimized, and CO.sub.2 plume leaks monitored in real time, using a controlled sleeve system deployed into a well, where the controlled sleeve system comprises a predetermined set of ports extending from an outer surface of a substantially tubular housing through to an inner annulus of the housing and one or more selectively actuated sliding sleeves configured to selectively open, occlude, and close the predetermined set of ports. One or more sensors configured to be deployed in the well may be present. A wireless remotely actuated flow controller disposed at least partially within the housing and operatively in communication with the sensor comprises a sleeve actuator controller operatively connected to the selectively actuated sliding sleeve and a sensor data acquisition module operatively in communication with the sensor. A communications module is operatively in communication with the wireless remote actuated flow controller. Power may be supplied via a power supply operatively in communication with the wireless remote actuated flow controller, the communications module, and the sensor. The controlled sleeve system is placed into communication with a surface control system disposed proximate a surface location of the well and CO.sub.2 injected into a geological formation of the well, at least partially through the controlled sleeve system. The surface system is used to selectively actuate the selectively actuated sleeve to selectively choke, occlude, and permit the flow of CO.sub.2.

Systems and methods for providing a polished rod alignment tool
A tool configured to align a polished rod within a carrier bar of a pumpjack is described. While this tool can include any suitable component, in some cases, it includes a cylindrical member having an internal conduit, allowing the cylindrical member to wrap around and receive the polished rod. In some cases, the cylindrical member has a top having a first outer diameter, and a bottom having a second, larger outer diameter. In some cases, the cylindrical member comprises one, two, or more discrete pieces. In some cases, a flange extends horizontally from the bottom of the cylindrical member, to be disposed at a bottom portion of the carrier bar. In some cases, the cylindrical member comprises a slit that extends from the top to the bottom of the cylindrical member to allow the member to be opened and to receive the polished rod. Additional implementations are described.
ALTERNATIVE HELICAL FLOW CONTROL DEVICE FOR POLYMER INJECTION IN HORIZONTAL WELLS
The flow control device comprises one or more stacked spiral paths where the shape of an inlet to an end of a spiral has a taper on one or more sides to gradually increase the polymer velocity to eliminate rapid acceleration points as the flow enters the spiral path. The entrance with its taper can be curved to get into the spiral. The spiral can be entered tangentially or radially or axially.

Inflow Control Device for Polymer Injection in Horizontal Wells
A flow balancing device facilitates polymer injection in a horizontal formation in a manner that minimizes shear effects on the injected polymer. Features of the device reduce velocity using a broad circumferentially oriented inlet plenum that leads to a circumferentially oriented path having zig-zag fluid movement characterized by broad passages that define the zig-zag pattern so as to reduce velocity at such transition locations. Because the path is circumferentially oriented there is room for broad transition passages independent of the housing diameter. The broad crescent shaped inlet plenum also reduces inlet velocity, and therefore shear, to preserve the viscosity of the injected polymer. Other materials can be injected or the device can be employed in production service as well as injection. A related method employs the described device for injection.
