System and methodology for controlling actuation of devices downhole
A technique facilitates actuation of a downhole device, e.g. a flow control valve. The downhole device is shifted between positions by an actuator piston, which is movable in a first direction via hydraulic actuating fluid supplied by a first control line and in a second direction via hydraulic actuating fluid supplied by a second control line. A hydraulic circuit is coupled between the first control line and the second control line to enable a complete stroke of the actuator piston in one direction, e.g. the second direction, while limiting movement of the actuator piston to incremental movements in the other direction, e.g. the first direction. The hydraulic circuit employs a hydraulic enabled regulator having a plurality of pistons arranged to control the supply of hydraulic actuating fluid to achieve the desired incremental movements of the actuator piston.
Automated isolation system
Techniques for plugging at least one zone of a hydrocarbon well are disclosed herein. The techniques include methods for deploying a wellbore dart configured for plugging the at least one zone of the hydrocarbon well, receiving, by a first node, location information indicating a first location of the wellbore dart, receiving, by a second node, location information indicating a second location of the wellbore dart, and detecting, an arrival of the wellbore dart at an intended location for the dart to plug the zone of the hydrocarbon well. In some aspects, the method further includes sending a command to a firing module of the wellbore dart, the command effective to cause the wellbore dart to plug the zone of the hydrocarbon well. Systems and computer-readable media are also provided.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING DOWNHOLE FLUIDS
A fluid processing system is configured for use in a wellbore in a hydrocarbon-bearing rock formation. The system includes a casing liner disposed in an open hole section of a well for providing a separation zone in a flow of materials from a first reservoir The system includes a downhole separator operatively coupled to the casing liner for separating the first material and the second material within the flow of materials. The flow of materials includes at least a first material and a second material.
METHOD FOR WELLBORE SEALING
Methods and compositions for performing a sealing operation in a wellbore. An example method introduces a sealant composition into the wellbore while the sealant composition is under shear. The sealant composition comprises a thixotropic material, a conformance gel system, and an aqueous base fluid. The sealant composition is placed into a target location, and applied shear is reduced to the sealant composition when in the target location thereby allowing the sealant composition to thicken in the target location. Fluid flow across the target location is reduced by a fluid seal formed by the thickened sealant composition.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUTOMATED GAS LIFT MONITORING
A method is provided. Sensor data regarding a wellbore is received from at least one of a distributed fiber optic sensing line positioned along the wellbore and a plurality of subsurface and surface sensors. Flow models are generated based on the sensor data to optimize production flow. Flow profiles are generated based on the flow models and the sensor data to adjust at least one gas lift valve.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURED FLOATS FOR USE IN A DOWNHOLE ENVIRONMENT
Provided, in one aspect, is a float for use with a fluid flow control device. The float, in at least one aspect, includes a fluid impermeable exterior, and a base material having one or more cavities positioned within the fluid impermeable exterior, the base material formed using an additive manufacturing process.
Detecting downhole sand ingress locations
A method of detecting sand inflow into a wellbore is disclosed. The method can include obtaining a sample data set, detecting a broadband signal within the sample data set, comparing the broadband signal with a signal reference, determining that the broadband signal meets or exceeds the signal reference, and determining the presence of sand inflow into the wellbore based on determining that the broadband signal meets or exceeds the signal reference. The sample data set can be a sample of an acoustic signal originating within a wellbore including a fluid, and the broadband signal at least includes a portion of the sample data set at frequencies above 0.5 kHz.
Systems and methods for horizontal well completions
The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for horizontal well completions, including dual monobore completions, without certain well intervention operations. More specifically, the embodiments described herein generally eliminate certain well intervention operations, such as cleaning of cementing-related equipment and accessories (e.g., plugs, balls, and so forth), performing logging operations, running and cementing intermediate casings, and so forth. In certain embodiments, a production casing may be run into a wellbore and cemented into place within the wellbore directly adjacent a surface casing of the well. In certain embodiments, the production casing comprises first and second tubular sections longitudinally separated by an intermediate tapered section.
Method of optimizing operation one or more tubing strings in a hydrocarbon well, apparatus and system for same
A method, system and apparatus of optimizing operation of one or more tubing strings in a hydrocarbon well are provided. Each tubing string is located in a hydrocarbon well and has a plurality of valves. Each valve is actuatable between a fully open position and a fully closed position and is in communication with a respective zone of a formation defining a reservoir containing hydrocarbon material. The method includes characterizing an injectivity of one or more zones of the formation and determining an optimal operating schedule in accordance with the characterization. The optimal operating schedule comprises one or more valve configurations and an operating duration for each of the one or more valve configurations.
