ROBOTIC APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING DRILL FLOOR OPERATIONS
A robotic apparatus (1) for performing drill floor operations comprises a support arrangement (2) and at least one manipulator arm (6). The at least one manipulator arm (6) is configured to carry an end effector (11) configured to manipulate one or more of tubing, tools and/or equipment on a drill floor (d) or pipe deck of an oil and gas rig in order to perform a given drill floor operation.

System and Method for Drilling Rig State Determination
A method for drilling a borehole in a subsurface formation includes receiving measured values indicative of operations performed by drilling equipment while drilling. The measured values include hookload values. The hookload values are analyzed to identify hookload values acquired while connecting a drill pipe, and a block weight value is set based on such a hookload value. The block weight value is subtracted from the hookload values to produce rebased hookload values. A rig state model produces a value for a state of the drilling equipment based on the measured values and the rebased hookload values. Responsive to the state of the drilling equipment, an operation performed to drill the subsurface formation is changed.
Real-Time Well Construction Process Inference Through Probabilistic Data Fusion
A method includes acquiring data during rig operations where the rig operations include operations that utilize a bit to drill rock and where the data include different types of data; analyzing the data utilizing a probabilistic mixture model for modes, a detection engine for trends and a network model for an inference based at least in part on at least one of a mode and a trend; and outputting information as to the inference where the inference characterizes a relationship between the bit and the rock

Virtual brake system
A brake system for maintaining an angular position of a spindle assembly. A pump-powered motor drives rotation of a spindle on the machine. When no rotation is desired, the spindle will slow, then stop at a desired angular orientation. A rotational sensor will determine the clock position, and a controller compares that to a desired angular orientation. If an error tolerance is exceeded, the motor will rotate the spindle back to the desired orientation.

Automating Well Construction Operations Based on Detected Abnormal Events
Apparatus and methods for automating well construction operations based on detected abnormal events. A method may comprise commencing operation of an equipment controller of a control system for monitoring and controlling a well construction system. The well construction system may comprise well construction equipment operable to perform well construction operations. Commencing operation of the equipment controller may cause the equipment controller to receive sensor data from a sensor, detect an abnormal downhole event based on the sensor data, select an operational sequence to be performed by the well construction equipment based on the abnormal downhole event, and output control data to cause the well construction equipment to perform the operational sequence thereby mitigating the abnormal downhole event.
