Multi-Layer Gas Reservoir Field Development System and Method
Provided are embodiments for hydrocarbon reservoir development that include the following: identifying proposed well locations within a reservoir boundary, for each location, developing a well plan by: (a) identifying layers of the reservoir located below the proposed location; (b) iteratively assessing the layers (from deepest to shallowest) to identify a deepest “suitable” layer that is not dry, congested, or unsuitable for gas production; and (c) performing the following for the identified layer and the location: (i) determining a borehole configuration for the location; (ii) determining a completion type for the location; and (iii) determining a stimulation treatment for the location, where a well plan for the location (e.g., for use in developing the reservoir) is generated that specifies some or all of a well location, the target layer, a borehole configuration, a completion type, and a stimulation treatment that corresponds to those determined for the proposed well location.
Fiber optic sensing of wellbore leaks during cement curing using a cement plug deployment system
A method includes attaching a fiber optic cable to a cementing tool configured to attach to a cementing plug displace cement in a hydrocarbon well. The method can also include deploying the cementing tool in the hydrocarbon well to cause the cementing plug to begin releasing cement to form to displace cement to form a cement sheath in the hydrocarbon well. Additionally, the method can also include receiving, by a sensor receiver at a wellhead of the hydrocarbon well, a signal with cementing data as the cement sheath cures. Furthermore, the method can also include determining whether the cement sheath is curing properly. A system and a non-transitory computer readable medium are also provided.
SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING COMPARISON OF RECEIVED CUTTINGS WEIGHTS FROM A RIG SITE CUTTINGS STORAGE UNIT AND EXPECTED CUTTINGS WEIGHT CALCULATED USING WELL BORE GEOMETRY AND RECEIVED REAL TIME FORMATION DENSITY DATA FROM LWD TOOLS
A system for adapting drilling of a borehole in a subterranean formation based on comparing a received cuttings weight to an expected cuttings weight. The system comprises a processor; a non-transitory memory; at least one display; and an application stored in the non-transitory memory that, when executed by the processor, determines the received cuttings weight based on data received from a cuttings storage unit (CSU); determines the expected cuttings weight based on a current borehole depth, on a drill bit geometry, and on a cuttings density value; and presents a representation of the received cuttings weight and a representation of the expected cuttings weight on the at least one display, whereby at least one parameter of drilling of the borehole is adapted based on comparing the representation of the received cuttings to the representation of the expected cuttings weight.
Automatic drilling activity detection
A method of determining a drilling activity includes receiving a set of measurements at different times. The set of measurements includes a depth of a wellbore, a depth of a drill bit, and a position of a travelling block. The method also includes identifying a connection by determining when the position of the travelling block changes but the depth of the drill bit does not change. The method also includes determining when the depth of the wellbore does not increase between two different connections. The method also includes determining a direction that the drill bit moves between the two connections.

Shale Shaker System Having Sensors, and Method of Use
A shale shaker system. The system includes a fluid transport pipe configured to receive a stream of drill cuttings and fluid returns from a wellbore during a drilling operation; an analysis module configured to receive at least a portion of the stream of drill cuttings and fluid returns at an inlet; a cuttings chute configured to receive at least a portion of the stream of drill cuttings and fluid returns from an outlet of the container, and deliver them to a screen box; and one or more screens for filtering drill cuttings from the fluid returns. The analysis module comprises logging sensors configured to operate while drill cuttings are moving through the system. The logging sensors communicate with a processor to determine characteristics of the drill cuttings in real time. A method for analyzing drill cuttings at a well site is also provided.
IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO ASSESSMENT OF MINING DEPOSITS
In one aspect, a system (5) for use in providing an approximation or estimation of a characteristic (for example, a bulk density value) of a deposit subject to a drilling operation is disclosed. In one form, the system (5) comprises a processor module (25) arranged in operable association with a network of sensors (30) operable for measuring one or more parameters relating to the operation of the drilling assembly (10). The processor module (25) is configured operable for receiving data/information derived from the network of sensors (30), and processing the data/information so as to provide a representation of the incursion (eg. depth of penetration into the relevant deposit) achieved by way of the drilling assembly (10). The processor module (25) is further configured for processing the representation of the incursion with a predetermined relationship that is characteristic of, or unique to, the drilling assembly (10) for providing or allowing an approximation/estimation of the characteristic of the deposit as a function of one or more parameters of the incursion to be made.
