10161247 · 2018-12-25 · ·

An ROV-mountable flush and sample skid is described that reduces the project cost and deliveries, and also improves HSE risk during Subsea Pump installation campaigns. The ROV skid can be configured as part of a standard ROV tooling across different projects. The tool also reduces the total pump module installation weight that is important in deepwater applications. The ROV-mountable flushing and sampling skid is mounted to an ROV and deployed to a subsea location to provide flushing of and sampling of barrier oil from a barrier oil supply jumper from an subsea umbilical termination assembly. The Subsea pump flushing and sampling ROV skid includes of a set of flush accumulators with enough capacity to flush the installed jumpers clean, and also one or more sample accumulators configured to sample the barrier oil after the flushing has been performed.

The present approach includes implementations for generating thermos-hydraulic data via a simulation and evaluating the thermo-hydraulic data pertaining to one or more parameters of a production system. The approach includes receiving operating parameters and receiving coefficients of polynomials for constructing a plurality of pump performance curves. The approach includes performing a selection step. The selection step includes selecting a pump from a plurality of pump types, and sizing the pump based in part on the thermo-hydraulic data, the operating parameters, and the coefficients of polynomials. The approach includes repeating the selection step until each pump of the plurality of pump types has been considered to generate a subset of pumps from the plurality of pump types. The approach includes performing an optimization step on the subset of pumps. The approach includes generating a visual display to identify the set of preferred pumps.

Oilfield operation using a drill string

Collecting temperature data at a plurality of locations along a wellbore, performing thermo-mechanical simulations of a drill string in response to mud circulation wherein the drill string comprises a tool string suspended in the wellbore from a pipe string, determining changes in length of the pipe string due to temperature changes, positionally fixing the tool string at one of the locations, and adjusting the length of the pipe string based on the determined change in length of the pipe string. Positionally fixing the tool string may comprise lowering the drill string a side entry sub of the drill string is proximate a top end of the wellbore wherein the side entry sub is configured to allow a wireline cable to enter a bore of the drill string, positioning the side entry sub above a blow-out-preventer, and closing the blow-out-preventer around the drill string below the side entry sub.

Downhole viscosity sensor with smart fluid

A downhole viscosity sensor and related systems and methods are disclosed. The sensor includes a first fluid flow path including a turbine and a velocity sensor, a second fluid flow path including a second turbine and a second velocity sensor, a mechanical or electrical linkage linking the first turbine and second turbine to cause the turbines to rotate in unison. The sensor also includes a field generator, which may be a magnetic field or electric field generator. The first fluid flow path includes an open flow path for receiving a fluid from a formation and the second fluid flow path includes a closed flow path having a reference fluid that has a variable but known viscosity.

Provided herein are systems and methods for generating reservoir models including the SOC nature of the Earth's crust. The methods employ seismic emission tomography (SET) to generate three dimensional models of a formation providing permeability without the need for traditional reservoir modeling techniques and allowing for the identification of naturally-occurring permeability pathways that provide accurate and precise locations for the efficient recovery of hydrocarbons or other fluids.

Pressure tolerant battery

A pressure tolerant battery that may be utilized in a subsea riser includes one or more lithium polymer cells enclosed in a pressure compensated housing. The pressure tolerant battery can be mounted on a landing string a disposed in the riser annulus to provide electrical power to landing string and subsea well system devices.
