The restriction assembly includes a cantilever device disposed within the fluid channel and defining a restricted fluid path, the cantilever device configured to deform to reduce an area of the restricted fluid path and restrict a flow rate of fluid flowing therethrough based on a property of the fluid.
Escapement system for shifting a member in a downhole tool
A downhole tool includes a tubular having an outer surface, an inner surface, a recess extending from the inner surface toward the outer surface, and an opening extending from the outer surface to the recess. A hydraulic passage extends through the tubular. The hydraulic passage includes an inlet, a first and a second branch. The second branch is fluidically exposed at the inner surface. A piston is arranged in the recess. A locking ring is arranged radially inwardly of the piston and a member is arranged in the tubular spaced from the inner surface. Application of hydraulic pressure in the first branch urges the piston radially inwardly clamping the locking ring against the member and application of hydraulic pressure in the second branch urges the member axially in a first direction relative to the tubular.
DOWNHOLE METHOD AND ASSOCIATED APPARATUS
A circulating downhole tool utilising a variable fluid pressure regulated cycle valve device that can be attached to the borehole assembly BHA of a coiled tubing and used down an offshore or onshore wellbore is disclosed. The circulating downhole tool utilising a variable fluid pressure regulated cycle valve device can be remotely operated by an operator on the surface as many times as required in either the through-flow, intermediary or circulatory modes-of-operation, by simply varying the drilling fluid flow rate and pressure being supplied from the pump located on the surface and interconnected to the coiled tubing and the BHA that will include the circulating downhole tool utilising a variable fluid pressure regulated cycle valve device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PLUG MILLING / FLOW-BACK / LIVE DESCALING INTEGRATED IMPROVED WORKFLOW OPERATIONS
A system for plug milling/flowback/descaling operations utilizes a data management component to receive and analyze data. A fluid management physical interconnection component has a debris separation device, a pressure control device and at least one mechanism connected for gas management and flow measurements of solids and liquids. The analysis by the data management component is used to provide control signals for use in or for the pressure control device. A vacuum/flush solid management system utilizes a combination of flush and vacuum pumps to convey solids in a slurry to a low pressure tank for disposal. The system directs frac sands through the debris separation device, through the pressure control device, and through the at least one mechanism for gas management and flow measurements to the low pressure tank.
FLUID FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM EMPLOYING GRAVITY DRIVEN FLOATS AND A VALVE
Provided is a fluid flow control system and a well system. The fluid flow control system, in one aspect, includes a valve having a fluid inlet operable to receive fluid, a control inlet operable to receive a control fluid, and a fluid outlet operable to pass the fluid to the tubing, the valve configured to open or close the fluid outlet based upon the control fluid. The fluid flow control system according to this aspect further includes a density control valve having an inlet conduit operable to receive the fluid and an outlet conduit coupled to the control inlet of the valve, the density control valve operable to send the control fluid to the valve to open or close the fluid outlet based upon a density of the fluid.
METHOD FOR TUNING CHOKE OPERATION IN A MANAGED PRESSURE DRILLING SYSTEM
A method for tuning a managed pressure drilling system comprising a variable orifice choke to control fluid flow from a drilling well includes (a) characterizing change in flow rate through the choke with respect to choke opening at a substantially constant pressure drop; (b) characterizing change in fluid pressure in the well with respect to change in choke opening at a substantially constant flow rate into the well; (c) characterizing a response time of pressure in the well to changes in the choke opening, a delay time of pressure response after a change in choke opening and a back pressure applied to the well with respect to choke opening. The characterizations in at least one of (a) and (b), and the characterization in (c) are used as control parameters for a proportional integral differential controller having as output the choke opening and as input the fluid pressure in the well before the choke.
MAGNETICALLY BIASED VALVE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
A valve including a valve seat, a valve shuttle movable among positions wherein the shuttle is sealed against the seat and wherein the shuttle is spaced from the seat, a first magnet associated with the shuttle, and a second magnet positioned to magnetically interact with the first magnet in one of attractively or repulsively in at least one of the positions of the shuttle.
Gas lift valve aging process and apparatus
A process for aging gas lift valves utilizing a controlled decompression to prevent damage to seals of the gas lift valves. The process includes pressuring one or more gas lift valves to a predetermined pressure (e.g., 5000 psig) and maintaining this pressure for a predetermined time (e.g. five minutes). After this time period, decompression is performed in discrete steps. For instance, the pressure of the pressure vessel may be reduced in predetermined pressure increments (i.e. reductions). After each pressure reduction, the reduced pressure is maintained for a predetermined time. This allows gasses and fluids within the elastomeric O-rings time to dissipate without causing damage to the seals.
WELLBORE SYSTEM HAVING AN ANNULUS SAFETY VALVE
An annulus safety valve assembly for controlling gas flow in a wellbore annulus that includes a passage, a check valve in the passage, and an actuator that is selectively changed between first and second states. The actuator is bi-stable, and requires no energy to remain in either state. When the actuator is put into one of the states, the check valve configuration is changed from one way flow to two way flow. Reconfiguring the check valve into the two way flow configuration vents lift gas from inside the annulus that is below the check valve.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBON MATERIAL FROM OR INJECTING FLUID INTO A SUBTERRANEAN FORMATION USING ADJUSTABLE FLOW RESTRICTION
A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string disposed within a subterranean reservoir is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing having one or more injection ports for establishing fluid communication between a central passage and the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a valve sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing and comprising a fluid channel adapted to establish fluid communication between the central passage and the injection ports, and configured to create a fluid flowrate restriction. The valve assembly has a flow adjuster connectable to the valve sleeve, and is selectively arranged to align an opening with the fluid channel and allow fluid to flow from the fluid channel through the opening to the injection port, wherein connecting the flow adjuster to the valve sleeve defines a flow length of the fluid channel to adjust the fluid restriction created by the fluid channel.
