Solder fatigue modeling

The present disclosure models the testing of oilfield electronic equipment that operate in high temperature downhole environments (possibly with large vibrational loading) in order to quantify the damage to the electronic equipment over its expected operational lifetime. The simulated downhole environment is complex and includes coupled random vibration and thermal cycling followed by repeated shock at high temperature. In embodiments, the proposed methods and system measure non-linear damage accumulation of the electronic equipment in this simulated downhole environment.

Dissolvable downhole connect tool
11702893 · 2023-07-18 ·

A drill string connect tool comprises a housing having first and second sections. The first section has a first recess, and the second section has a second recess. The tool and the first and sections may be in a connected configuration or a disconnected configuration. The connect tool comprises at least one tension member placeable within, and suitable to transfer tensile forces between, the first and second sections when in the connected configuration. A retaining member can retain the tension member within the first and second recesses. The retaining member is selectively dissolvable by a dissolving fluid, while the remaining components of the tool can withstand the dissolving fluid. When exposed to a dissolving fluid, the retaining member dissolves, allowing the tension member to exit the first and second recesses, thereby actuating the tool to the disconnected configuration.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DEPLOYMENT OF ELECTRIC-BASED FRACTURING TOOLS IN VERTICAL WELLS
20230020716 · 2023-01-19 · ·

Systems and methods for deployment of electric-based fracturing tools in vertical wells are disclose. A method of electric-based fracturing may include lowering an electrical stimulation tool into a wellbore using a drill pipe and isolating a lower portion of the wellbore that is downhole from an upper portion of the wellbore. The electrical stimulation tool may be disposed in the lower portion of the wellbore. A system for electric-based fracturing may include an isolation mechanism and an electrical stimulation tool. The isolation mechanism may be configured to expand from a retracted configuration spaced from an interior surface of a wellbore to an expanded configuration in contact with the inner surface of the wellbore. The electrical stimulation tool may be operatively coupled with the isolation mechanism and may be configured to be disposed distally relative to the isolation mechanism when positioned in the wellbore.

INTERVENTIONLESS INJECTION SAFETY VALVE

A safety valve includes a housing having a bore, a flow tube, and a valve closure member. The flow tube resides in the bore, is configured to move telescopically within the bore, and is adapted to shift the valve closure member between a closed position and an open position. The safety valve also includes an annular section between an inner surface of the housing and an outer surface of the flow tube, and means for preventing fluid flowing through the bore from entering the annular section.

DOWNHOLE CERAMIC DISK DISSOLVING IN ACID AND WELL STIMULATION IN SINGLE DOWNHOLE ACTIVITY

Methods and systems are provided for breaching a ceramic disk installed in a wellbore during oil and gas well completion and production activities. More specifically, the disclosure relates to dissolving a ceramic disk with a strong acid. Additionally, the strong acid is further used to stimulate a reservoir. The strong acid can be introduced to the wellbore through coiled tubing or directly from the surface.

EXPANDABLE LINER AND METHOD FOR RUNNING THE SAME

An expandable liner and a method for running the same are provided. The expandable liner includes a base pipe, wherein the base pipe is provided with a passage extending through an axial direction of the base pipe, a connection structure disposed at both ends of the base pipe, and screen openings on a wall of the base pipe; a porous expandable layer is fixedly attached to an exterior of the base pipe and made of a non-memory foamed and compressible material. The expandable liner and the method, by adopting a non-memory porous expandable layer, realize a sand-control performance and a wellbore-supporting capability of a prior art technology where memory materials are used, which significantly reduces costs in manufacturing, operating and running.

Dissolvable diversion package and method of use
11525330 · 2022-12-13 · ·

Methods and systems for diverting the flow of fluids within a wellbore are disclosed. The methods and systems use a flow conveyed diverter pack, which includes a package portion and a wing portion. The package portion may contain a ball (a.k.a. a diverter ball) and may contain additional components. The diverter pack may be formed by sandwiching a diverter ball between films of a flexible material, for example, films of a dissolvable polymer. The diverter pack may be deployed in a wellbore, whereby the pack is conveyed by fluid flow to an opening to be sealed. The diverter pack seats upon the opening, thereby diverting flow from the opening.

A variable stiffness engineered degradable ball or seal having a degradable phase and a stiffener material. The variable stiffness engineered degradable ball or seal can optionally be in the form of a degradable diverter ball or sealing element which can be made neutrally buoyant.

Methods and Apparatus for providing a plug activated by cup and untethered object
20220389789 · 2022-12-08 ·

A plug assembly includes an expandable assembly, a locking ring and a cup. The expandable assembly is adapted to be deformed radially over the locking ring and the cup. The locking ring has a stopping inner surface. The plug assembly is used with one or more untethered objects, the untethered objects having an outer surface adapted to couple with the cup, and the cup having an outer surface adapted to couple with the stopping inner surface of the locking ring. The combination of cup and untethered objects is also adapted to contact an inner surface of the plug assembly and, using well fluid pressure, to apply forces to the plug assembly. The forces cause the longitudinal movement of the cup and untethered objects while contacting the inner surface of the plug assembly until the cup contacts the stopping inner surface of the locking ring.

DEGRADABLE DOWNHOLE DISK

Methods and systems are provided for breaching a disk installed in a wellbore during oil and gas well completion and production activities.
