Smart fracturing plug with fracturing sensors
Systems and methods are provided for a fracturing process and in particular, to providing a fracturing system including a fracturing plug configured to seal a wellbore to prevent fluid from passing through the wellbore, a gun configured to generate a perforation cluster, wherein the perforation cluster allows fluid exchange between the wellbore and a subterranean formation, a setting tool configured to initiate setting of the fracturing plug and firing of the gun to generate the perforation cluster, and a sensor configured to measure parameters proximate to the wellbore, wherein the sensor is retrievable after a fracturing process, measuring the parameters proximate to the wellbore with the sensor and transmitting the parameters measured by the sensor to an operator.
Dissolvable object with a cavity and a fluid entry point
A dissolvable untethered object for use inside a well fluid includes an internal cavity and a fluid entry point. The internal cavity contains a gas. The fluid entry point is closed and selectively openable so that the internal cavity can be filled with the well fluid flowing through the fluid entry point. A dissolving rate of the dissolvable untethered object is modified after contact of the well fluid inside the internal cavity with the dissolvable untethered object.
DEGRADABLE DEFORMABLE DIVERTERS AND SEALS
A variable stiffness engineered degradable ball or seal having a degradable phase and a stiffener material. The variable stiffness engineered degradable ball or seal can optionally be in the form of a degradable diverter ball or sealing element which can be made neutrally buoyant.
INDUSTRIAL DRILLING HOLE SUPPORT TUBE
A hole support tube for use in an industrial drilling operation has an elongated body sized, shaped, and adapted to fit within a geological hole. The body has a wall extending from a first end of the body to a second end of the body, the wall having an outer surface and an inner surface with the inner surface defining a hollow interior of the body. The wall is made of a biodegradable material, such as cardboard. In one version, the hole support tube is an electronic hole support tube having a fiber optic cable spirally wound around or within the wall.
Solubility-based wellbore removal operations
A soluble abrasive cutting tool is configured to perform a cutting operation in a wellbore. The cutting operation comprising directing a pressurized stream of an abrasive fluid containing abrasive particles at a surface in the wellbore. For example, a stream of abrasive particles can be directed via a nozzle on the cutting tool at casing in the wellbore to perforate the casing. The abrasive particles are selected to dissolve in the wellbore fluid after the cutting operations have been completed. Once dissolved, the wellbore fluid can be removed from the area of the cutting operations without clogging tubing or pumps used to remove the wellbore fluid.
ACID FRACTURING WITH DISSOLVABLE PLUGS
Acid stimulation operations in a wellbore may be conducted using frac plugs constructed of a hydrolytically degradable polymer. The frac plugs may be constructed of an aliphatic polyester such as PGA and may be readily pumped into position in the wellbore due in part to their relatively low density. Once perforations have been created in the wellbore and a first frac plug is set in place, an acid solution may be pumped at a high-pressure acid against the frac plug and into the geologic formation. A second and/or any number of subsequent frac plugs may be pumped behind the acid, e.g., in brine solution, to be used in subsequent acid stimulation operations. After completing acid stimulation operations, the frac plugs may degrade in the wellbore to permit production within two weeks.
PLUG PISTON BARRIER
A plug assembly for use in oil and gas wells includes a sleeve having a debris barrier. The plug assembly may have a top sub, a bottom sub, and a middle sub arranged between the top sub and the bottom sub. The middle sub has an interior bore, a valve and a fluid flow channel such that the valve, when opened, allows fluid to flow from an interior bore of the middle sub into the fluid flow channel. The sleeve having the debris barrier is disposed on the middle sub. Fluid flowing in the fluid flow channel moves the sleeve, which moves the debris barrier so that the debris barrier is withdrawn from the fluid flow path through the interior bores of the top sub and the middle sub.
METHOD FOR PREPARING HIGH-STRENGTH, DISSOLVABLE MAGNESIUM ALLOY MATERIAL
A method for preparing a high-strength, dissolvable magnesium alloy material includes steps of: (1) preparing a magnesium-nickel intermediate alloy, which is Mg25Ni or Mg30Ni; (2) loading; (3) heating, melting and alloying; and (4) refining adequately alloyed magnesium melt at 750±20° C. for about 5 minutes while using RJ-6 as a refining flux and setting the melt still for about 10 minutes. The method allows easy addition of nickel as a component to a magnesium alloy during smelting such that nickel is evenly distributed throughout the magnesium alloy.
WELLBORE FLOW MONITORING USING A PARTIALLY DISSOLVABLE PLUG
A partially dissolvable plug is to be deployed in a position in a wellbore formed in a subsurface formation. The partially dissolvable plug comprises a first portion comprising a dissolvable material that is to dissolve over time after exposure to a downhole ambient environment in the wellbore and a second portion comprising a non-dissolvable material that is to create a flow restriction as the flow of fluid passes through the partially dissolvable plug. The first portion is to prevent a flow of fluid from downhole to a surface of the wellbore until at least a portion of the dissolvable material is dissolved. A flow rate is to be determined based on a detected change in a downhole attribute that is to change in response to the flow of fluid passing through the partially dissolvable plug after at least a portion of the partially dissolvable plug is dissolved.
WET SHOE SYSTEM
A downhole assembly includes a float tool configured to be connected to a casing string and including one or more one-way valves configured to permit fluid flow in a downhole direction and to prevent fluid flow in an uphole direction, and a first wiper plug configured to be deployed into a well via the casing string and engage the float tool. The first wiper plug comprises a valve element that is configured to prevent fluid flow through the first wiper plug at least in the uphole direction.
