Method and system for ensuring the quality of a multi-component mixture for rock reinforcement

A method for ensuring the quality of a multi-component mixture in a system for rock reinforcement is described herein. The system comprises a first and a second channel for a respective first and second component intended for injection in a rock hole. The respective channel comprises a pump and a container intended for the respective component. The method comprises the steps of pumping of the respective component from the respective container through the respective channel and continuously comparing the flow of the first component in the first channel with the flow of the second component in the second channel. The method further comprises the step of controlling the pumps individually, based on the comparison of the flows, in such a way that a deviation from a pre-defined volume ratio between the first component and the second component in the mixture is below a pre-defined first threshold.

An encapsulation system for use in securing a rock bolt in a bore hole drilled into a rock face to be stabilised, the encapsulation system comprising at least two separate encapsulation mediums and one or more elongate cartridges containing the encapsulation mediums, each the cartridge having a frangible casing, the encapsulation mediums including: a first encapsulation medium comprising a curable first resin formulation; and a second encapsulation medium; wherein, following use in securing a rock bolt, the second encapsulation medium has a lower bond strength and/or a lower compressive strength than the first resin formulation.

RESIN-GROUTED ROCK BOLT ASSEMBLY WITH AN ADAPTED SEALING BUSH

Disclosed is a rock bolt assembly including: an elongate bolt extending with distal and proximal ends; a tubular sleeve longitudinally extending between leading and trailing ends on the bolt so at least a proximal end portion projects from the trailing end of the sleeve; and a nozzle docking bush on the proximal end portion between the sleeve's trailing end and the bolt's proximal end. The bush has a cylindrical body between first and second ends, a central hole extending through the body, spaced-apart annular ridges on the cylindrical body, a grout distributing channel between the ridges, and an aperture in the channel connecting the channel and hole. The central hole includes a leading portion ending at the first end, sealingly receiving the trailing end. A trailing portion of the central hole ends at the second end and sealingly engages the bolt. Each annular ridge seals against a grout nozzle.

The present invention provides a retainer device 1 for retaining or holding an anchor rod 11 of a rock anchor, especially a self-drilling anchor, in a hole H drilled above horizontal. The retainer device 1 comprises: a body portion 2 configured to be mounted on the anchor rod 11, e.g., on an outer or external periphery of the anchor rod, and at least one locking arm or tab 6, 7 that projects from the body portion 2 in a direction transverse to a longitudinal extent of the anchor rod 11. The body portion 2 is configured to engage an abutment or shoulder on the outer or external periphery of the anchor rod to prevent its movement relative to the anchor rod 11 in use, and the at least one arm or tab 6, 7 is configured to deform so as to engage and bear against an inner wall W of the hole H when the retainer device 1 mounted on the anchor rod 11 is driven into the hole H. The invention also relates to a rock anchor system 10, comprising: at least one elongate anchor rod 11; a drill bit 12 configured for attachment to one end region 13 of the elongate anchor rod 11 for drilling the anchor rod 11 into rock strata R; and at least one retainer device 1 according to the invention described above for retaining or holding the anchor rod 11 in a hole H drilled in the rock strata R above horizontal. The one or more actuators are configured to rotate the carousel about the carousel axis. The drilling and bolting rig further includes an electronic processor coupled to the one or more actuators and the position sensor. The electronic processor is configured to detect, using the position sensor, a rotational position of the carousel, and rotate, using the one or more actuators, the carousel based on the rotational position of the carousel.

Three-in-one drilling, resin and rod insertion device

A device that allows for the sequential operations of hole drilling, resin and catalyst insertion and rod insertion in a single machine is provided. The drilling part uses a regular mining drilling machine that is fitted onto the device. Once the hole is drilled, a pipe is inserted into the hole. There are two possible versions of the pipe, a single pipe configured to work with an air cannon shooting resin tubes and a co-joined double pipe to inject resin and a catalyst in separate co-joined pipes so as to emerge unmixed at the end of the pipes. The next step consists in screwing in the rod into the hole, the twisting motion mixes resin and catalyst and in a matter of seconds, the rod is fully inserted and the chemical reaction has started. Because of the speed and accuracy of insertion and the thoroughness of mixing, more catalyst than usual can be used for a faster hardening of the resin, which secures the rod much better and faster.

The dolly includes coupling means (30a, 30b) for coupling the dolly to the output shaft of the rock bolting apparatus and a percussion plate (42) comprising an end plate (44) and integral side walls (47) defining an internally threaded recess for receiving the threaded end of the rock bolt, for applying percussive loading to the elongate hollow rod of the rock bolt (300) via the end plate and threaded side walls. The dolly also includes a body portion extending between the coupling means and the percussion plate transmitting forces from the output shaft to the percussion plate; which defines at least one passageway (136) for the passage of grout or resin from a reservoir through the rock bolt dolly and into the rock bolt.
