COMPLEXES FOR THE DELIVERY OF PROTEINACEOUS AGENTS
The invention provides a complex comprising at least one proteinaceous agent, an ionic polymer comprising a repetitive unit of formula (I):
##STR00001##
wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a straight or branched chain alkyl group, preferably a straight or branched chain alkyl group comprising from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, for example a methyl group; R.sup.2 represents a straight or branched chain alkyl group which is substituted by a group which may have a positive charge at a physiological pH; and optionally a surfactant; a complex for use in a method of medical treatment; a pharmaceutical composition
BONE-PROMOTING THERMORESPONSIVE MACROMOLECULES
Provided herein are injectable, thermoresponsive hydrogels that are liquid at room temperature, provide a carrier material, and gel at body temperature to allow for controlled release. In particular, PPCN-based hydrogels are provided with therapeutic agents (e.g., drugs, ions, etc.) incorporated within or appended thereto, and methods of preparation and use thereof, for example, for the promotion of bone formation/repair and/or the treatment of bone diseases.
Pathogen vaccines and methods of producing and using the same
The present invention provides vaccine compositions and methods of producing such compositions. Other embodiments of the invention include methods of treating a pathogen infection, methods of vaccinating a subject against a pathogen infection, and methods for treating an antibiotic-resistance bacterial infection in a subject in need thereof. In further embodiments, the invention includes methods of decreasing the level of a pathogen in a subject having a pathogen infection, methods of increasing the surviving rate of a subject having a pathogen infection, methods of reducing the level of pain associated with a pathogen infection, and methods of reducing the level of distress associated with a pathogen infection in a subject in need thereof. Novel scaffold compositions and opsonin-bound or lectin-bound pathogen compositions, and uses thereof, are also provided herein.
CORONAVIRUS VACCINE
The present invention is directed to a nucleic acid suitable for use in treatment or prophylaxis of an infection with a coronavirus, preferably with a Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, or a disorder related to such an infection, preferably COVID-19. The present invention is also directed to compositions, polypeptides, and vaccines. The compositions and vaccines preferably comprise at least one of said nucleic acid sequences, preferably nucleic acid sequences in association a lipid nanoparticle (LNP). The invention is also directed to first and second medical uses of the nucleic acid, the composition, the polypeptide, the combination, the vaccine, and the kit, and to methods of treating or preventing a coronavirus infection, preferably a Coronavirus infection.
COVALENT POLYMER-ANTIGEN CONJUGATED PARTICLES
The present invention provides compositions comprising tolerizing immune modified particles (TIMPs) and methods for using and making said TIMPs. In particular, carrier polymer is covalently conjugated with antigenic peptide before particle formation, which allows for exquisite control of particle size and antigen encapsulation (e.g., for use in eliciting induction of immunological tolerance).
Peptide conjugated particles
The present invention provides compositions comprising peptide-coupled biodegradable poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG) particles. In particular, PLG particles are surface-functionalized to allow for coupling of peptide molecules to the surface of the particles (e.g., for use in eliciting induction of immunological tolerance).
Virus-like particles for preventing the spreading and lowering the infection rate of viruses
According to some embodiments, a carrier for reducing a likelihood of a pathogen binding to cell structures of a host comprises a core, surface features extending from an exterior surface of the core, wherein the surface features are configured to bind to target areas of cell structures of the host to at least partially block the pathogen from binding to said target areas as a result of competitive inhibition, and a plurality of binding sites along the exterior surface, wherein the binding sites are configured to attract at least one portion of the pathogen, wherein the binding sites are recognizable by the pathogen and are able to be bound by the pathogen, thereby at least partially immobilizing the pathogen and reducing the likelihood of the pathogen binding to target areas of cell structures of the host.

A METHOD OF ELICITING AN IMMUNE RESPONSE BY ADMINISTERING A POPULATION OF POLYMERSOMES HAVING AN ASSOCIATED ANTIGEN TOGETHER WITH A POPULATION OF POLYMERSOMES HAVING AN ASSOCIATED ADJUVANT AS WELL AS COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING THE TWO POPULATIONS OF POLYMERSOMES
The present invention relates to a method of eliciting an immune response in a subject by administration of an antigen and an adjuvant, wherein the antigen is associated with a first population of polymersomes, and wherein the adjuvant is associated with a second population of polymersomes, and wherein the two populations of polymersomes are administered to the subject. The present invention also relates to compositions such as vaccines comprising the two polymersome populations of the present invention, methods of eliciting an immune response or methods for treatment, amelioration, prophylaxis or diagnostics of a cancer, autoimmune or infectious disease, comprising providing polymersomes of the present invention.
