Rail clip assembly (1), comprising superposable first (10) and second bodies (11) arranged for being removably fastened to a rail support by a connector (9). The first body (10) comprises an abutment surface (121) adapted for abutment with a lateral face of a foot of a rail. The first and second bodies comprise corresponding apertures (122, 112) for receiving the connector (9), one (122) of the apertures being oblong with a longer axis (150) extending in a direction oblique to the abutment surface, to enable the first body to assume different positions relative to the second body. The first and second bodies comprise first corresponding surfaces (123, 111) configured for providing force transmitting contact between the first and second bodies when as The rail clip assembly is characterised in that the first and second bodies comprise second corresponding surfaces (124, 114) configured to enter into force transmitting engagement with each other upon fastening the assembly, which have an inclination at an angle between 20 and 85 relative to the horizontal, such that the engagement of the second surfaces with each other produces a net resulting force on the first body oriented towards the rail and resisting backing movement of the first body away from the lateral face of the rail foot upon fastening the connector.

GRIPPING AUTO-ADJUSTING RAIL CLAMP
20250305219 · 2025-10-02 · ·

An auto adjusting rail clamp that self-adjusts gripping is provided. The rail clamp comprises a fixed jaw which contacts a rail's foot with two points of contact. It comprises a moving jaw that slides at a specific angle to the fixed jaw so as it moves closer to the rail it is forced down on to a top of the rail's foot, thereby providing a third point of contact. It comprises a spring that forces the moving jaw towards the rail and down on to the rail thus maintaining contact and allowing for differing rail foot thicknesses. It comprises a retaining pin that captures the moving jaw to prevent it from fully escaping the rail clamp when the rail clamp is not on the rail. The rail clamp attaches to various rail profiles and sizes by automatically adjusting a closure of two clamping jaws.

Rail fastening device

A rail fastening device (10) comprises a clip 16 and a washer (17) for fastening to a rail support (12) by an upstanding bolt 14 having a nut (15), which can be tightened to lock the device (10) in position. The clip (16) and washer (17) comprise respective apertures (18), (19) for receiving the bolt (14). The washer (17) is adapted to rotate as the nut (15) is tightened until a formation on the washer (17) abuts an upstanding formation (24) on the rear of the clip (16) at point A, whereupon continued tightening of the nut (15) causes the washer (17) to pivot at point A around an offset axis, so as to bring the bolt (14) into contact with a front surface (18F) of the clip aperture (18). Further tightening of the nut (15) pivots the washer (17) to a point where any displacement force applied to the clip (16) by the rail is applied directly to the bolt (14) and not to the washer (17). In this manner, the risk of the washer failing, or bolt (14) bending is avoided.
