Stable asphalt emulsions, methods of forming the same, and composite structures formed from the same
Asphalt emulsions, methods of forming asphalt emulsions, and composite pavement structures formed from the asphalt emulsions are provided herein. In an embodiment, an asphalt emulsion includes a base asphalt component, water, and an oxidized high density polyethylene. The base asphalt component is present in an amount of from about 15 to about 70 weight %, the water is present in an amount of at least about 25 weight %, and the oxidized high density polyethylene is present in an amount of from about 1 to about 20 weight %, where all amounts are based on the total weight of the asphalt emulsion. The oxidized high density polyethylene has an acid value of from about 5 to about 50 mgKOH/g. The asphalt emulsion is free of aggregate and other mineral materials.
Permeable pavement system including a permeable pavement composition and a related method
A permeable pavement system including a permeable pavement composition and a related method are provided. The permeable pavement system includes a first layer of a permeable pavement composition including a quantity of a first permeable pavement material and a quantity of cured carbon fiber composite material (CCFCM) incorporated therewith, the first layer defining a first surface; and a second layer of a second permeable pavement material deposited over a substantial entirety of and covering the first surface of the first layer of the permeable pavement composition, wherein the first layer interfaces with the second layer to at least strengthen the permeable pavement system.

Asphalt paving and stripping system and method using hydrophobic microwave absorbing material
Asphalt paving and stripping system and method involves the use of a primer, comprising hydrophobic microwave absorbing material mixed in a hydrophobic liquid, between an asphalt layer and a base layer below. The primer is configured to be deposited on the base layer at room temperature without preheating. Heating the hydrophobic microwave absorbing material, sandwiched between the asphalt and base layers, by microwave energy, allows striping of the asphalt layer from the base layer by a wheel loader.
VOID REDUCING ASPHALT MEMBRANE COMPOSITION, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ASPHALT PAVING APPLICATIONS
A method of sealing pavement joints includes the steps of dispensing a first band of void reducing joint composition on a substrate. Applying a first pass of pavement over at least a portion of the void reducing joint composition. Dispensing a second pass of void reducing joint composition on the substrate. Applying a second pass of pavement of the second band of void reducing joint composition and against an edge of the first pass of pavement.
