The support layer being formed of a polymeric foam, preferably having a density of between 20 and 70 grams per liter, such as a polyolefin foam; and having an upper side and a lower side, wherein in use the support layer has been placed with the lower side thereof on a base surface and supports, on the upper side thereof, the artificial turf assembly, the support layer including a plurality of through drainage holes extending from the upper side to the lower side for allowing liquid such as rain water to flow via the plurality of drainage holes from the upper side to the lower side, and also including a plurality of channels at the lower side for allowing liquid such as rain water to flow through the channels along the lower side, wherein each of said plurality of drainage holes debouches into one of the plurality of channels. The support layer is further included in an artificial turf system, that includes an artificial turf assembly with the support layer supported on a base surface such as a layer of sand, wherein the support layer forms, at the upper sides thereof, a closed support surface supporting the artificial turf assembly.
IMPROVED PREFORMED SYNTHETIC TURF GRIDS AND METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR PROVIDING SAME
Pre-cut (or pre-formed) synthetic turf kits and methods of installing same are provided. Kits or methods may or may not include installation templates of paper, foam or other suitable materials with corresponding insert material spaces and patterns printed or already cut out and removed providing a faster and easier install method. The pre-formed turf can be installed either before or after the paver, stone, brick, tile, or wood insert materials are in place to make beautiful square, circle, rectangular and diagonal patterned turf grid designed hardscapes. This makes installation possible without needing an expensive specialty turf contractor.

Flooring system including a material displaying dilatant properties, and methods for installation of an athletic flooring system
A flooring system includes at least two discrete layers. The at least two discrete layers include at least a first discrete layer comprising variably responsive elastic subfloor. The at least a first discrete layer includes at least first sublayer having area elastic properties and at least a second sublayer, wherein at least a portion of the at least a second sublayer includes a first material displaying dilatant properties. The at least two discrete layers include at least a second discrete layer comprising a wear layer disposed on top of the at least a first discrete layer.

UNDERLAYMENT PANEL HAVING DRAINAGE CHANNELS
An impact-absorbing assembly includes a covering layer being one or more of artificial turf, rubber mats, polymer mats, short pile carpeting, particulate infill, wood chips, and ground rubber chips. Also included is a layer of underlayment panels positioned beneath the covering layer. The panels have a panel section with a plurality of drain holes formed therethrough. A top surface of the panels is configured to support the covering layer. A bottom surface of the panels has a plurality of bottom projections that cooperate to define bottom channels suitable to permit water flow across the bottom surface, the bottom channels being in fluid communication with the panel drain holes. The bottom projections define a first spring rate characteristic that is part of a first stage and a second spring rate characteristic is part of a second stage, the first stage having a smaller volume of material than the second stage.
Ground covering for outdoor application
A ground covering comprising: a base panel including a sheet with an array of protrusions extending therefrom; a top panel including an array of receptacles for mating with at least a number of said protrusions; one or more drainage conduits formed through each of the protrusions, each drainage conduit being at least partially occluded by a baffle; and complementary engagement formations on peripheries of the protrusions and of the receptacles for fastening the top panel to the base panel.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CUSTOMIZING A PLAYING FIELD
A customizable playing field includes a turf system comprising a tile with a turf layer. The tile overlays a subfloor, defining a reservoir thereunder. A forced air system includes a pipe disposed within the reservoir and operatively coupled to a pump; and a sensor. A control system controls the pump, and includes a processor in data communication with at least one input/output device and computer memory. The computer memory has a program with machine readable instructions that, when effected by the processor, perform the following steps: if the temperature is above a predetermined threshold as measured by the sensor, forcing a cool fluid through the pipe; and if the temperature is below a predetermined threshold as measured by the sensor, forcing a warm fluid through the pipe.
Interlocking and shock attenuating tiling systems
An interlocking floor tile assembly is provided. It includes a first repeating array of spaced apart first tiles interconnected by first bridge portions wherein the first tiles and the first bridge portions define first spaces therebetween. It also includes a second repeating array of spaced apart second tiles interconnected by second bridge portions wherein the second tiles and the second bridge portions define second spaces therebetween. The second tiles are received in the first spaces and the first tiles are received in the second spaces. A shock attenuating tile may be provided in conjunction with the interlocking floor tile assembly to form a ground covering that is suitable for fall risk areas such as playgrounds. The shock attenuating tile preferably includes a plate having an upper side for bearing a load and a plurality of shock absorbing modules depending from an underside of the plate.
