MICROWAVE SUPPRESSION TUNNEL AND RELATED FEATURES
A continuous asphalt mix system for using a microwave heating vessel at the point of production that includes a microwave energy suppression tunnel with one or more mesh flaps for substantially reducing or preventing the leakage of microwave energy from a microwave system, while having a continuous flow of product through the vessel and suppression tunnels. The suppression tunnels are installed on the inlet and/or the outlet side of the system and are sized to suppress leakage.
Sealant packaging and method
An improved sealant packaging and method for use with sealing joints and cracks in pavement and parking lots is provided. Liquid sealant material is poured by volume into a container draped with a sheet. Container is cooled so that the sealant becomes a solid block, with the sheet adhered to the sides of the sealant block such that the sheet forms a container for the sealant. The sheet also acts a release liner for easily removing the sealant block from the container. Two or more contained blocks are stacked together, forming a package of two or more blocks self-sealed by sheets. When the package is placed in a melting kettle, heat migrates through the spaces between the individual sealant blocks and allows the smaller sealant blocks to melt quickly and evenly. Sheet and film melt with sealant material and are incorporated therein to form the final sealant product.

FIN APPARATUS FOR ENHANCING HEAT TRANSFER SURFACES
A system includes a fin apparatus that is installed on a heat transfer medium pipe using thermally conductive mastic (heat transfer compound) and bands for holding the components in place. The system further includes a tank containing material of high viscosity, primarily Polymer Modified or Ground Tire Rubber Asphalts (PMAs and GTRs), that requires heating. The fin apparatus increases the surface area of the heat transfer medium piping and increases the effectiveness of the heat transfer that takes place between the medium and the high viscosity material. There is a need for the fin apparatus because to date, traditional fin designs are prone to fouling and decreased performance when used with high viscosity materials like PMAs and GTRs.
Melting kettle
Melting kettles for use on vehicles for continuous processing of material for applying lines, stripes, bitumen, crack sealant or the like. The kettles disclosed herein provide heat transfer by use of oil jacketed tanks. A coil may be placed along a lower section for heat transfer through a burner for heating recirculated oil. A coil may be placed in a lower section and an upper section for heating an oil jacket, as well as heat transfer from the entire circumference of a coil placed in the upper section. An upper coil can be fluidly coupled to a lower coil and positioned within the chamber a spaced apart distance from the interior wall of the melter kettle. A mixer system rotates paddles to cause continuous transfer of material around the upper coil. The melter kettle is cylindrical, but can be corrugated to increase heatable surface area.
Heat insulation sheet and sheet material using heat insulation sheet
The heat insulation sheet is provided with a fixing layer that is arranged between a base material and a carbon sheet. The fixing layer is made of a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The base material has flexibility. The carbon sheet is made by rolling expanded graphite and has a thickness from twenty-five micrometers to one hundred micrometers. In the sheet material, activated carbon is arranged opposite to the fixing layer side of the heat insulation sheet, and a surface material is arranged on a surface of the activated carbon. The fixing layer can be constituted in such a manner that a hot-melt adhesive is arranged in a reticulate manner.

VOLUMETRIC MIXER
A volumetric mixer is provided including a holding section adapted to store one or more materials simultaneously, one or more conveyors disposed in the holding section, a mixing section, one or more heating units disposed in the mixing section, and a control unit. The conveyors are operable to convey materials from the holding section to the mixing section and the one or more conveyors are operable to be individually controlled by the control unit to deliver a pre-determined amount of each material from the holding section to the mixing section.
