Roadway marker control system

A GPS-based control system for positioning a nozzle projection onto a predetermined roadway mark path includes a vehicle having an attached paint carriage which is laterally movable with respect to the vehicle, a first GPS antenna, a first GPS receiver responsive to the first GPS antenna, a first signal processor for determining the geographical location of the first GPS antenna, a linear motion and position sensor, a GPS location processor for determining the absolute GPS location of the paint carriage, a coordinate transform processor for transforming the absolute GPS location of the paint carriage into a location in a coordinate system other than GPS, a comparator for comparing the location of the paint carriage in the other coordinate system to a desired roadway mark path according to the other coordinate system, and a control system for positioning the nozzle projection onto the roadway mark path.

MOTOR-DRIVEN DISPENSE ARM OF VEHICLE-MOUNTED LINE STRIPER

A ground marking apparatus is configured to apply marking material to a ground surface. The ground marking apparatus includes a beam supported by a beam mount and extending along a beam axis. A carriage is disposed on the beam and movable on the beam along the beam axis. A carriage motor operably interfaces with the beam and is configured to move the carriage along the beam. A dispense arm is supported by the carriage and is configured to move relative to the beam as the carriage moves along the beam.

SOIL COMPACTOR FOR COMPACTING SOIL MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SUCH A SOIL COMPACTOR

A soil compactor for compacting soil material, in particular asphalt, comprises at least one compactor roller (14, 16) which is rotatable on a compactor structure (30) around a roller axis of rotation (W) which is essentially orthogonal to a compactor longitudinal direction (L) and at least one marking unit (26, 26) carried on the compactor structure (30) for applying marking material (M) to soil material (12) driven over by the soil compactor (10).

Sinuous traffic line
10280574 · 2019-05-07 · ·

A sinusoidal traffic line that has scalloped edges to form a sine wave that increases visibility under conditions of reduced visibility is formed of a pre-cut ribbon or applied traffic line material (e.g., sprayed thermoplastic material). The traffic lines have a wavy left edge and a wavy right edge. The edges are formed in a regular pattern, having a regular amplitude and wavelength relative to a directional vector along the axis of the traffic line. The patterns of the outer edges can be arranged in an opposite arrangement such that they converge and diverge. The upper surface of the traffic line can be embossed by an embossed device so as to create a regular pattern and increase reflectivity.

THERMOPLASTIC KETTLE AUXILIARY SINGLE-PASS OIL BATH HEAT EXCHANGER SYSTEM
20190063013 · 2019-02-28 ·

An auxiliary single-pass tube bundle heat exchanger for improving the melting efficiency of melter kettles used to melt thermoplastic pavement marking materials. The auxiliary single-pass tube bundle heat exchanger includes a heat transfer tube bundle having a plurality of heat transfer tubes in which the flow of molten thermoplastic material reverses directions at least once. Hot heat transfer oils flows around the plurality of heat transfer tubes. Vertical material transfer tubes connect between the bottom of the melter kettle and the top of the auxiliary single-pass tube bundle heat exchanger and between the bottom of the auxiliary single-pass tube bundle heat exchanger and the top of the melter kettle. Augers within the vertical material transfer tubes driven by reversible drive motors cause molten thermoplastic material to flow from the bottom of the melter kettle, through the auxiliary single-pass tube bundle heat exchanger, and into the top of the melter kettle.
