APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A STEERING CONTROL SYSTEM
A steering control system adapted for use on a paving machine having one or more wheels and an automatic pivot steer mode. The preferred steering control system comprises a speed sensor adapted to determine a paving machine speed, a steering cylinder adapted to move between a straight forward position and a fully turned position, a steering cylinder sensor adapted to determine a steering cylinder position, a flow sharing valve in fluid communication with one or more of the one or more wheels and adapted to be moved between an open position and a closed position, and a controller adapted to communicate with the speed sensor, the steering cylinder sensor, and the flow sharing valve. The preferred steering control system is adapted to automatically open and close the flow sharing valve. Automatically moving the flow sharing valve between the open position and the closed position.
EXTENSION ADJUSTING ASSEMBLY
A screed apparatus including a main screed having a frame, a screed extension, and an extension apparatus configured to mount the screed extension to the main screed. The extension apparatus includes a first mounting member configured to mount to the main screed and to be movable along a first axis with respect to the main screed. A second mounting member is pivotably mounted to the first mounting member and is configured to pivot between a first orientation and a second orientation about a second axis with respect to the first mounting member. A third mounting member is mounted to the second member and is configured to mount to the screed extension. The third mounting member is further configured to be movable along a third axis with respect to the second mounting member while the second mounting member is in the first orientation or second orientation.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A JOINT SENSOR ASSEMBLY
A joint sensor assembly for use on a screed having a movable screed extension and a substantially vertical plate. The assembly has a joint sensor operatively connected to the plate and adapted to transmit a joint location signal, a means for moving the plate which is operatively connected to the extension and adapted to move between a first lateral position and a second lateral position, a valve operatively connected to the means for moving the plate and adapted to move between an open position and a closed position, and a controller adapted to receive the joint location signal and adapted to send a valve signal. The valve signal causes the valve to move between the open position and the closed position, and the movement of the valve causes the means for moving the plate to move between the first lateral position and the second lateral position.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR AN AUTOMATIC TRACTION SYSTEM
An automatic traction system adapted for use on a paving machine having a steering cylinder, one or more wheels, and a joystick. The preferred automatic traction system has a joystick sensor adapted to determine a joystick position, a steering sensor adapted to determine a steering cylinder position, a speed sensor adapted to determine an actual speed of one or more of the one or more wheels, a valve adapted to be moved between an open position and a closed position and is in fluid communication with one or more of the one or more wheels, and a controller adapted to communicate with the joystick sensor, the steering sensor, the speed sensor, and the valve. The preferred automatic traction system automatically controls the rotational speed of the one or more wheels of the paving machine in the event that one or more of the one or more wheels lose traction.
Asphalt paver with remixer
A wheeled asphalt paver vehicle provides a combination of a remixing hopper and a paving screed in a single vehicle. An optional loading conveyor carried by the vehicle facilitates loading of asphalt mix or other paving material into the hopper. A mixer within a lower portion of the hopper keeps the asphalt materials mixed therein. An output conveyor draws asphalt material from the hopper and into a screed for laying onto a surface over which the vehicle is traveling. An optional flow diverter between the output conveyor and the screed is adjustable to provide a greater proportion of the asphalt material to a left side or a right side of the screed. The vehicle can conveniently be controlled by fewer operators than when a separate paver vehicle and a separate remixer vehicle are utilized.
Screed heating element holder
A screed assembly for use with a paving machine. The screed assembly can comprise: a screed plate; a holder configured to be removably connected to the screed plate and configured to be positioned thereon, wherein when connected thereto the screed plate and the holder form a channel having an opening at one end thereof; and a heater assembly having a heating element configured to be received in the channel and to be aligned by the holder when so received relative to an axis of symmetry of the screed plate.
Grade and slope lockout for extender movement of construction machine
Systems and methods for implementing a machine control system in a construction machine having an implement with an extender. The machine control system may include an acceleration sensor mounted to the implement and a processor configured to perform various operations. The operations may include determining that the extender is not moving and in response operating under a first control scheme. Operating under the first control scheme may include receiving acceleration data from the acceleration sensor, generating an estimated slope of the implement based on the acceleration data, and modifying a slope of the implement based on the first estimated slope by causing movement of at least one tow arm. The operations may also include determining that the extender is moving and in response operating under a second control scheme. Operating under the second control scheme may include maintaining the slope of the implement substantially constant.
SCREED DUAL CARRIAGE EXTENDER TUBE ORIENTATION
An asphalt paver machine includes a main screed and an extender screed. The extender screed is coupled and configured to move laterally relative to the main screed. The extender screed includes a first screed carriage movably coupled to the main screed by a first cylinder and a second cylinder diagonally arranged relative to one another, and a second screed carriage movably coupled to the first screed carriage by a third cylinder and a fourth cylinder diagonally arranged relative to one another.
Asphalt Screed Extension Tube Adjustment Assembly
A screed assembly for a paving machine is disclosed including a main screed portion and a screed extension portion being laterally exterior to the main screed portion. Furthermore, a screed extension tube is coupled to a screed frame and a screed extension portion frame, the screed extension tube adjusts a width of the screed extension portion. The screed assembly may further include an extension tube support mechanism having a bushing circumferentially surrounding the screed extension tube and disposed within a bushing recess defined in the screed extension portion frame. The extension tube support mechanism further having a retainer ring that circumferentially surrounds and is in direct contact with at least a portion of the bushing, and the retainer ring is capable of being adjusted between the bushing and the screed extension portion frame to eliminate an uncontrolled movement of the screed extension tube and the screed extension portion.
