Intelligent speed regulator
20190218729 · 2019-07-18 ·

Methods, systems, and apparatus for controlling a speed regulator are described. A monitor detects a speed of a vehicle. A speed regulator controller configures a speed regulator based on the detected speed, the speed regulator being configurable to extend and retract.

Rumble strip forming apparatus and method
10352006 · 2019-07-16 · ·

The present device is a rumble strip forming apparatus for reducing the amount of reactive force transferred to the transporter. The rumble strip forming apparatus includes a transport, a lift device, a grinder, and a drive means that connect drive portions of the transport to the grinder to synchronize engagement of a cutting device with the pavement with forward movement of the transport while providing rearward movement of the grinder drum during cutting. The grinder is configured to provide both rotation of a pavement cutter and up and down movement of the pavement cutter while portions of the grinder remain in contact with the pavement.

The present disclosure provides for a directional surface marking that provides directional messaging to users based on their direction of travel on a base surface, such as a roadway, walkway, or interior flooring, as non-limiting examples. In some aspects, the directional messaging may comprise different colors, text, or symbols, wherein a user may view different directional messaging on a directional surface marking dependent on direction of travel. In some embodiments, directional surface markings may comprise a profile layer, wherein the profile layer may comprise a plurality of profiles, which may provide a topography that allows for directional messaging utilizing surface colors on the topography.

Traffic alert system and method having incremental speed bumps
12012702 · 2024-06-18 ·

A system and method for notifying drivers of an emergency condition along a highway includes mounting a plurality of speed control assemblies in a ground surface beneath the highway, each identifier including a geographic component. This method includes selectively moving a speedbump portion between retracted and raised configurations a predetermined distance above the highway. Alert data including an alert location may be communicated from a traffic control agency to the traffic control assemblies. Using the plurality of identifiers, this method includes identifying respective speed control assemblies that are located within a predetermined distance upstream of the alert location and incrementally actuating the identified speed control assemblies to the raised configurations, respectively. Each incrementally raised configuration causes an increased impact with an associated sound and vibrational sensation to an automobile traveling upon the highway upstream of the alert location.

Vehicle arrestor system
10287735 · 2019-05-14 ·

A vehicle arrestor system includes a ditch box defined by a pair of opposing side walls and a bottom wall extending between the side walls forming a chamber therebetween. A movable plate forms at least a portion of a top wall of the chamber. A mechanical actuator is operably coupled to the movable plate for causing the movable plate to move between a non-actuated position and an actuated position. The movable plate is flush with the road pavement when in the non-actuated position and is not flush with the road pavement when in the actuated position. The vehicle arrestor system serves a dual purpose of arresting movement of a vehicle and providing a notification to a driver of the vehicle to slow down if the vehicle is exceeding the posted speed limit. A plurality of vehicle arrestor systems can be strategically placed in a locked island arrangement.
