Removable reef and barricade system, appurtenances, and means of manufacture
The present invention relates to a removable artificial reef and barrier system capable of mitigating detrimental wave and current energy and erosion problems, enhancing biological growth and marine aquaculture, increasing carbon sequestration, providing power generation, and enhancing favorable surf conditions for recreational use.
Energy Dissipator
An energy dissipater comprising a plurality of periodic hyperbolic surfaces, forming a continuous surface-structure, and enveloping contiguous tunnels there through.
Methods, Systems, and Kits for Building Interlocking Seawalls
This disclosure provides methods, systems, and kits for building seawalls using mechanically interlocking blocks. The interlocking blocks have interiors that can be filled with sand, gravel, or cementitious material after formation of a wall. The interlocking blocks that can be connected on any side to form a structure, wall, foundation, floor, building, flotation device, gardening structure, or toy. The interlocking blocks typically comprise center openings and connecting openings on each side and can be connected with hardware through the connecting openings. The center openings allow for materials such as pipes, wires, conduit, and rebar to pass through interlocked blocks. Connected blocks can also be filled with fortifying material to strengthen the structure. Sides of connected blocks can be covered with faceplates to direct flow of fortifying material and aid in the creation of desired configurations. Also provided are connectors for connecting sides of the interlocking blocks.
Artificial surfing reef construction method
The present invention relates to a new artificial surfing reef construction method, using geosynthetic cementitious composite mat, with a top coating of plasticized gypsum composition. The current invention artificial surfing reef construction method, can be built in surfing lakes, water basins, pools, lagoons, ponds, reservoirs, rivers, streams and bodies of water.
BREAKWATER
A breakwater comprising a base member having an outer surface, and a plurality of elongate members is disclosed. An end region of each of the plurality of elongate members is coupled to the outer surface of the base member. The base member and/or at least one of the elongate members has a textured surface for the attachment of marine life. The breakwater may be located on a seabed, a riverbed, an ocean floor or a floor of a waterway, to protect a coast or riverbank from coastal erosion.
Apparatus facilitating formation of a vertical oyster reef and shoreline rehabilitation with induced oyster reef barrier and lagoon implementing the same
A shoreline restoration method utilizes a plurality of apparatuses facilitating the formation of a vertical oyster reef. Each apparatus includes a rod frame and a plurality of individual mesh bags are positioned between an inner and an outer frame. The inner and outer frames include top and bottom frame portions and a plurality of side support frame members extending there between. Each individual mesh bag is aligned with at least one outer side support frame member and at least one inner side support frame member and wherein each individual mesh bag is coupled to an adjacent mesh bag. A plurality of cross ties extends between the inner frame and the outer frame and cultch material fills each individual mesh. The shoreline restoration method promotes shell accumulation and expands the tidal zone.
Wave suppressor and sediment collection system for use in shallow and deeper water environments
A transportable wave suppressor and sediment collection system for suppressing wave action along the shore of a body of water, which includes a plurality of interconnected sections, each section including a base, a forward wall, and a rear wall, and having a plurality of flow pipes extending from the forward wall to the rear wall, and further including a plurality of shelves on the forward wall for dispersing wave energy, while redirecting and using the wave energy to allow water and sediment to flow into the flow pipes and for collecting sediment that is not carried into the flow pipes and settles on the shelves for being contacted by a following wave to carry the sediment into the flow pipes. In some deeper water embodiments, the sections may include a base portion, a top portion and one or more spacer portions to enable raising or changing the height of the system.
EASILY-EXPANDABLE WAVE-DISSIPATING BLOCK HAVING ARTIFICIAL FISH REEF FUNCTION
Proposed is a wave-dissipating block including: a body placed on a seabed perpendicularly thereto and having a shape of a polygonal column, a cylinder, an oval column, or a cross-shaped column; male coupling protrusions formed on a first surface of the body in a height direction thereof and on a surface opposite to the first surface, respectively; female coupling grooves formed in a second surface of the body in the height direction thereof and in a surface opposite to the second surface, respectively; a habitat part configured as a space defined at a center portion of the body or a portion of the body; a dividing plate provided as a plate dividing the habitat part into habitat parts; a through hole formed in the dividing plate; and a space part having a space defined between multiple bodies of wave-dissipating blocks connected adjacently to each other.
Living marine quay wall
Embodiments provide a quay wall attachment and a method for promoting biodiversity in a marine environment. The quay wall attachment includes a quad plate and a module. The quad plate is secured to a portion of a quay wall located underwater. The module includes a coral module, a fish module, a plant module, and combinations of the same. The coral module includes living corals and is secured to the quad plate. The fish module includes a hollow space and is secured to the quad plate. The plant module includes living marine plants and a hollow space, and is secured to the quad plate.
