Apparatus for flood control
11746489 · 2023-09-05 · ·

A dynamic fluid flow control structure is provided that allows precise control over fluid flow using a series of two or more orifices, at least one of which may be reconfigured to change its flow characteristics. A flood control system and a flood control process are provided that emulate a preset discharge profile over time. Some versions of the structure, process, and system can be used to provide controlled storm discharge patterns in a developed area that emulate the natural pre-development discharge patterns.

Method and system for a static floodwall system

A static floodwall system that includes at least one floodwall section, and may include an access gate. The access gate may include a motor, control box, and drive system for moving a gate panel between open and closed positions. The static floodwall system may further include a plumbing system for transporting rain water from a dry side to a wet side. The floodwall system may be installed such that it is surface mounted, requiring minimal excavation. Methods of installing the floodwall system include creating a shallow excavation, adding compact fill and a top layer to the excavation site, and installing the floodwall section(s) on the top layer.

Presence-based automatic gate operation for marine barriers and gate systems

A system and method are provided for presence based automatic operation of a marine barrier gate for protecting a secured area. Embodiments include a system having RFID sensors outside and inside the secured area, and proximal the gate. A controller verifies that a user is authorized to enter the secured area when one or more of the RFID sensors communicate with a user identification unit carried by the user; opens the gate or causes the gate to remain open when the user's authorization to enter the secured area is verified; tracks a location of the user identification unit using the RFID sensors while the gate is open and the user is transiting the gate; and closes the gate when the RFID sensors are no longer in communication with the user identification unit.

Automatic gate operation and system status indication for marine barriers and gate systems

A system is provided for automatic operation and status indication of a marine barrier gate. Embodiments include a system having a buoyant barrier gate that is movable between a closed position and an open position. An actuator moves the gate between the open and closed positions, and a sensor is operably connected to the actuator to generate data relating to a position of the barrier gate between the open and closed positions. A processor receives the data from the sensor and processes the data to move the gate between the open and closed positions, and detect the position of the gate. A human-machine interface is operably connected to the processor for communicating the detected position of the barrier gate to a user.

EMBANKING ARRANGEMENT

Disclosed is an embanking arrangement for separating and protecting a first water volume from a second water volume, including a barrier connected to land and having an opening, a stationary basis extending across the opening, and a mobile port arrangement including a hull delimiting an inner tank. The embanking arrangement takes closed and open states respectively, wherein the inner tank of the port arrangement is at least partly filled with water and the hull of the port arrangement is standing on the basis when the embanking arrangement is in the closed state. The port arrangement is floating in the open state. The port arrangement includes at least a first opening connecting the inner tank and the first water volume, and including a controllable valve, and a pump connected with the second water volume to transport water from the first water volume to the second water volume.
