EROSION CONTROL APPARATUS
The present invention relates to an erosion control apparatus and methods of using and installing the apparatus. The apparatus is constructed to prevent erosion of soil during typical weather conditions and adverse weather events. The apparatus can include a plurality of anchored rolls and soil lifts operative to stabilize the shoreline.
WALL WITH DECORATIVE FACING
Disclosed is an economical and effective way of producing a double sided wall using facing panels having a face surface and a back surface with a retaining structure. The facing panels are stacked in a back-to-back arrangement into a pair of first and second wall components connected by separate articulated connectors. The articulated connectors each have a first base connector that fits into a respective retaining groove in the first wall component and a second base connector that fits into a respective retaining groove of the second wall component. The first and second base connectors are connected to each other by a link that forms a first pivot joint at the first base connector and a second pivot joint at the second base connector.
Block for geotechnical applications
A block for geotechnical applications is disclosed, the block having a composite body which is a section of a used wind turbine blade including a part of its leading edge, trailing edge and the windward surface and leeward surface of the used blade. The body is open from above and below. Fragments of the windward surface, leeward surface, leading edge and trailing edge of the used blade are the block's side walls. The inside of the body is filled with a filling material. A method of making a block for geotechnical applications is also disclosed. Under the method, a section is marked on a used wind turbine blade between its tip and root for mounting in a hub. Then, within this section, the block body is cut out, in two cutting planes parallel to each other, in the form of a fragment with a closed cross section, including a part of a leading edge, trailing edge, windward shell and leeward shell of this blade, then this body is filled with a filling material, making its filling.
METHOD FOR CASTING REINFORCEMENT ALIGNMENT FEATURES INTO CONCRETE WALL BLOCKS
What is provided is a method for casting reinforcement alignment feature into concrete wall blocks and precast concrete wall blocks configured for assembly into a wall. Reinforcement alignment features, such as horizontal reinforcement grooves and/or vertical reinforcement grooves, are precast simultaneously with panels, ribs, and other components of the concrete wall blocks in the forms in which the concrete wall blocks are cast. As a result, reinforcing members, such as rebar and welded wire mesh, may be positioned, either horizontally or vertically, in desired and appropriate locations on the concrete wall blocks. Consequently, there is a significant increase in the convenience and ease of wall construction, while greatly reducing the amount of labor that is needed. In addition, the constructed walls have increased stability, strength, and water resistance.
MULTI-USE BUILDING BLOCK AND METHODS
A multi-use block including a block body having at least a first leg. The blocks can be placed in different orientations with respect to each other to form multiple interlocking structures. The block can be a variety of materials, including concrete, and when concrete, used for making walls and columns. Methods of making and methods of use are provided.
Wall with decorative facing
Disclosed is an economical and effective way of producing a double sided wall having a corner or closed end using facing panels having a face surface and a back surface with a retaining structure. The facing panels are stacked in a back-to-back arrangement into a pair of first and second wall components bridged by separate connectors. An end wall component forming an end or corner of the wall includes facing panels stacked to extend across the intermediate space. A branched connector and link are used for bridging a concrete facing panel in the end wall component with an adjacent concrete facing panel of the first or second wall component. The branched connector has a first connecting end and an opposite branched end with at least a pair of second connecting ends for attachment to the retaining structure of the adjacent facing panel and the link has a first end for attachment to a facing panel in the end wall component and a second end for linking to the branched connector.
Berm Or Levee Expansion System and Method
A system and method to create or elevate a berm of a liquid retention facility by placement of lightweight liquid impervious. The system and method can also be used to elevate the liquid retention height of the berm in combination with impervious liner retention material. By constructing the berm system on an existing levee, the effective height of the levee can be increased. The lightweight fill material provides the shape of the berm or levee extension. The liquid impervious liner material provides a watertight surface, the media for joining of the lightweight fill material, and the anchoring of the lightweight fill material to the existing berm or levee structure. The system may use solid wall hollow body structures to elevate the berm. The system may also use lightweight frames to support the vertical elevation of a liner above the berm.
Apparatuses and Methods for Fiber Rolls
The invention provides components, structures, methods, and assemblies for controlling sedimentation and debris flow associated with soil erosion. The invention also provides components, structures, methods, and assemblies that are useful for anchoring fiber rolls along a sloped surface.
Self-filling modular barrier
A flood barrier unit having a base and at least one side wall is provided. The walls of the unit are tapered such that it is capable of being stacked vertically with other such units when not in use. The unit preferably includes at least one connection slot on each wall, wherein each connection slot is adapted to sealingly accept a connection piece. A plurality of such units may be connected together to form a watertight flood barrier, where adjacent units are adapted to be connected together in a watertight manner using one connection piece. Additional connection pieces suitable for sealingly engaging a vertical structure such as the wall of a building are also provided.
