Flow Barrier to Prevent Infiltration of Wastewater from Wastewater Disposal Ponds

A flow barrier for wastewater disposal ponds or pits used in oil and gas operations. The flow barrier includes a flake component, a fiber component, and a granular component. The disposal pond flow barrier may prevent the infiltration or leakage of aqueous fluids from the wastewater disposal ponds into the surrounding environment and ecosystems. A process for manufacturing and using the flow barrier in a wastewater disposal pond is also provided.

Geosynthetic Clay Liners and Methods of Manufacturing

A geosynthetic clay liner (GCL). The GCL may include a substrate layer, a bentonite layer applied onto the substrate layer, and a water-soluble polymer suspended in a non-aqueous medium and spray-applied over the bentonite layer.

INTEGRAL POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE GRIDS, THE METHOD OF MANUFACTURE, AND USES THEREOF

An integral polymer grid with a plurality of interconnected, oriented polyethylene terephthalate strands and an array of openings therein is made from a polyethylene terephthalate sheet-like starting material having perforations or indentations therein that form the openings when the sheet-like material is uniaxially or biaxially stretched. The grid has a higher tensile strength to weight ratio and a higher creep reduced strength to weight ratio than corresponding ratios associated with a grid made from a non-polyethylene terephthalate starting material.

Geomembrane lining system having weld areas adjacent side edges of resin sheets and protective release films releasably covering the weld areas

The invention relates to a geomembrane lining system and method of assembly in which a protective release seal is provided on the weld edges of a geomembrane liner. Geomembrane liners are arranged to line a containment area. Adjacent liners are arranged to partially overlap one another. The side edge of the geomembrane liner have a protective release film over areas of the liners that are to be welded. The protective release film protects the weld edge from accumulating dust and debris prior to and during installation. Dust and debris may disrupt the weld seam and allow contained waste material to leach into the surrounding area. The protective release film is removed prior to or during a welding operation. As a result, the adjacent geomembrane liners are welded together while minimizing or eliminating the presence of dust and debris at the weld edge.

Method for ecological filling with mixed coal gangue and fly ash

A method for ecological filling with mixed coal gangue and fly ash includes the following steps: S1: construction of a double-impermeable base layer: leveling a pit or gully, laying a fly ash-based cementitious material, compacting and curing; spraying a layer of polymer waterproof coating on a surface of the fly ash-based cementitious material, and fully curing to obtain a double-impermeable protective structure; S2: three-dimensional layered filling: dumping coal gangue and fly ash in sequence on the double-impermeable protective structure formed in S1, where the coal gangue and the fly ash are three-dimensionally layered and well graded; the coal gangue is coal gangue after coal washing, which is used as an aggregate; the fly ash is used as a filler and cementitious material to achieve a compact filling structure; and S3: rolling: rolling by a roller after the three-dimensional layered filling.

Composite reinforcing strip comprising: a covering capsule surrounding a plurality of longitudinal channels developing parallel to a longitudinal development direction of the composite reinforcing strip and arranged in sequence between opposite lateral ends of said composite reinforcing strip, a plurality of longitudinal reinforcing fibres arranged inside reinforcing channels of the plurality of longitudinal channels, and a plurality of longitudinal permeable fibres arranged inside at least one permeable channel of the plurality of longitudinal channels.

The covering capsule has, at least at an upper surface of the covering capsule opposite to a lower surface of the covering capsule, a plurality of surface openings leading to the at least one permeable channel so as to define a fluid communication between the plurality of longitudinal permeable fibres and an external environment.

CONTROL OF SOIL CONTAMINANT MASS DISCHARGE WITH HORIZONTAL PERMEABLE COLLOIDAL SORBENT BARRIERS

Methods of treating soil contained in a volume of treatment in an underground site and forming a containment barrier within an underground site are contemplated herein. A treatment methodology may be administered upon soil having previously been contained in the volume of treatment. Such a treatment methodology may include the application of an adsorbent to this soil. A layer of micron-sized adsorbents may also be placed on one or more interfaces surrounding the volume of treatment to form a containment barrier operative to mitigate diffusion of contaminants into or from the volume of treatment. Soil in the volume of treatment may be removed to allow for the methods contemplated herein to be performed more simply and effectively. The volume of treatment may then be refilled with a filler.

BELOW GRADE, BLIND SIDE, WATERPROOFING SHEET MEMBRANE WITH ADHESIVE AND HAVING IMPROVED LOW REFLECTIVITY GRANULAR PARTICLE LAYER TO FULLY BOND TO CONCRETE/SHOTCRETE, AND A METHOD OF MAKING, AND USING SAME

The present invention relates generally to a below grade, blind side, waterproofing sheet membrane with adhesive and low reflectivity granular particle layer to fully bond to concrete/shotcrete, and a method of making, and using same. More particularly, the invention encompasses a below grade, blind side, waterproofing sheet membrane with adhesive, and having at least one layer of low reflectivity granular particle layer that are fully or partly embedded into the adhesive layer, and where the average reflectivity of the exposed granular particles is about 50 or below 55 percent reflectivity on a standard reflectivity scale. The inventive waterproofing layer having the waterproofing sheet membrane, and an adhesive layer having embedded therein low reflectivity granular particles can be used in any building or wall construction, and can be placed under or around a foundation of a building or dwelling or on its below grade blind side retaining walls, etc.
