LEAKAGE MONITORING SYSTEM FOR GEOMEMBRANES
A leakage monitoring system for geomembranes comprises a power supply unit having two supply electrodes made from a nonmetallic conductive material and respectively connected to a membrane top and a membrane bottom of a primary geomembrane; a plurality of monitoring sensor electrodes made from the nonmetallic conductive material, uniformly arranged below the primary geomembrane and used for acquiring potentials at corresponding positions below the primary geomembrane; a data acquisition unit used for acquiring potential data of each monitoring sensing electrode; and a control and analysis unit used for analyzing the potential data of each monitoring sensor electrode acquired by the data acquisition unit, determining an abnormal potential area below the primary geomembrane to determine a leakage position of the primary geomembrane and giving an alarm. The abnormal potential area below the geomembrane can be determined to determine the specific leakage position of the geomembrane and give the alarm.
Method for lining existing ash basin and landfill sites
A method for lining an existing waste disposal site having a waste level includes, for example: installing perimeter barrier walls about the site and interior barrier walls within the perimeter barrier walls to define cells; transferring waste, such as for example ash, from one of the cells to one or more other cells to form an empty cell with a layer of contaminated material at the bottom of the empty cell; removing the layer of contaminated material from the empty cell to form a clean cell with a noncontaminated bottom layer; installing a barrier liner layer in the clean cell to form a lined cell; and transferring waste from other cells into the lined cell.
SPECIALIZED LINED LANDFILL SYSTEM FOR THE STABILIZATION AND CONTAINMENT OF DRILLING WASTES AND COAL COMBUSTION RESIDUES
Systems and methods of the present invention include a method for the treatment of drilling wastes and coal combustion residues, comprising combining at least a first drilling waste with coal combustion residues to form a paste, combining at least a second drilling waste with coal combustion residues to form a compactable fill, and placing the paste and the compactable fill in a landfill. Other embodiments include a method of treating drilling wastes and coal combustion residues, comprising combining at least one drilling waste with a coal combustion residue to form a paste. Further embodiments include containing the paste within at least one geotextile container. Still further embodiments include placing the geotextile container in a landfill.
TUFTED GEOTEXTILE WITH UNDERSTORY FOR SHEAR RESISTANCE TO HYDRAULIC AND DRY-FLOW INFILL DISPLACEMENT
A tufted geotextile for covering and closing land surfaces with shear resistance to hydraulic and dry-flow displacement of infill, having a backing sheet tufted with first yarns to form a plurality of first tufts that extend a first length as simulated grass blades and tufted with second yarns different from the first yarn for a plurality of second tufts extend a second length as simulated understory grass blades, said second tufts having distal ends that splay to form nexts of discrete fibers extending into interstices between the first and second tufts, and an infill received within the interstices, which next restrict hydraulic and dry-flow displacement of the infill. A method of tufting a geotextile for understory tufts and nests is disclosed. A method of covering outdoor land sites for increased resistance to high shear hydraulic and dry-flow events is disclosed.
In situ waste remediation methods and systems
Disclosed herein are in situ waste remediation methods and systems configured to hydraulically isolate waste material from groundwater. Methods for enclosing and/or remediating waste impoundments, landfills and the like using discrete in situ solidification/stabilization techniques are provided. The disclosed methods and systems provide containment techniques to create a vertical barrier to further isolate waste from groundwater and enhance geotechnical stability by increasing embankment strength, reducing saturated conditions and increasing the overall factor of safety for slope failure.
