LANDFILL LINER SYSTEM
A system and method are provided for a protective barrier liner system on near vertical to vertical slopes of a waste facility. The system includes anchors installed into the side walls of the waste facility, a drainage network including geo-composite drain strips, steel reinforcement, a sprayed water proof membrane, and a pneumatically applied final protective concrete cap layer. The anchors may include soil nails launched from a pneumatic launching device or anchors placed in drilled bores then reinforced with grout. The water proof membrane may be installed between an initial layer of concrete and the final layer of concrete to protect the membrane from damage by facility operations. The steel reinforcement may include wire mesh, whalers, bearing plates, shear studs secured to the bearing plates, and combinations thereof. The system can be constructed in progressive bands spliced together enabling construction of the complete system over a longer period of time.
Sediment-control fences with anisotropic strength and stiffness properties
Sediment-control fences designed to withstand hydrostatic forces associated with elevated backwater against the fence are disclosed. The fences are made of anisotropic fabric having different mechanical properties such as strength and stiffness in the machine direction versus the transverse direction. The anisotropic fabric may include fibrillated yarns in one direction and monofilaments in another direction. The sediment-control fences may be used without the necessity of wire or chain-link backed supports that are conventionally used to resist structural failure due to hydraulic overtopping of the fences.
Agro- and Geotextiles
The invention pertains to an agro- or geotextile (1), comprising: i) a carrier (2); and ii) an electric network (3) of one or more lighting units (4, 18), whereby said electric network (3) of one or more lighting units (4, 18) is provided on a surface of said carrier (2). The invention further pertains to a method for producing an agro- or geotextile (1) and to a use of an agro- or geotextile (1) according to the current invention.
Shear Resistant Geomembrane Using Mechanical Engagement
An elongated polymeric impermeable geomembrane sheet having opposing first and second surfaces with a plurality of spaced-apart first projections extending from the first surface, said first projections each tapering to a pointed apex at a distal extent, which first projections for mechanically engaging a synthetic drainage geomesh sheet overlaid by a tufted geotextile sheet and in contact with adjacent fill materials within the aggregation, whereby the aggregation has increased resistance to shear failure of the aggregation of fill materials and reducing stabilization failures of materials aggregation applications. A ground covering closure system is disclosed.
Brace assembly for a geosynthetic wrapped system used to construct stabilized earth walls and slopes
A bracing assembly for a geosynthetic wrapped system is provided. The bracing assembly includes a standing brace bar, a bottom brace bar, and a cross brace bar having different configurations to facilitate both easy and mistake free assembly of the bracing assembly. Furthermore, the standing brace bar and the bottom brace bar include guide tips that are sized and shaped to direct insertion of the standing brace bar and the bottom brace bar respectively into a weave of a geotextile fabric material such that a first connector of the bottom brace bar and a first connection slot of the standing brace bar are aligned together and with a fold line of the geotextile fabric material.
REINFORCEMENT AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAME
A reinforcement for strengthening soil areas, ground surfaces, and in particular subsoils, and earthwork structures includes at least one reinforcement element, preferably a plurality of reinforcement elements which, in particular, intersect at an angle, wherein the at least one reinforcement element includes at least one actuator by way of which a property of the reinforcement element can be changed, and in particular at least temporarily changed. A structure on a subsoil, and in particular an earthwork structure includes the aforementioned reinforcement, and a method is provided for operating the aforementioned reinforcement.
Geomaterial web with biological degradation properties
A geomaterial web includes a first organic structural material and a second structural material that is different from the first structural material, which is bonded together with the first structural material to form a sheet-like composite material web extending in two mutually perpendicular directions. The first structural material and the second structural material are organic materials, where the first structural material has a first biodegradability and the second structural material has a second biodegradability that is different from the first biodegradability. The second biodegradability may be less than the first biodegradability.
