APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION OF A FLUID, WITH AN ANTI-FREEZE SAFETY FUNCTION
An apparatus for controlling the distribution of a fluid along a supply line configured to supply a user includes a first hydraulic valve located along the supply line and provided with an inlet, which receives fluid in transit in the supply line; an outlet, which transmits fluid through the first valve to make it continue along the supply line, or which receives fluid coming from a portion of the supply line downstream of the first valve; and a discharge, which discharges outside of the supply line, through the first valve, fluid present in the supply line and coming from a portion of the supply line downstream of the first valve. A second hydraulic valve is operatively located along the supply line at a point downstream from the first valve and provided with an inlet, which receives fluid coming from the outlet of the first valve; an outlet, which transmits fluid through the second valve to make it continue along the supply line; and a bypass inlet, which receives fluid drawn from the supply line at a withdrawal point upstream of the first valve and brought directly to the second valve by means of a bypass duct branching off from the supply line upstream of the first valve.
SHUTOFF SYSTEM FOR WATER VALVE
An automatic valve actuator unit and method for use with an associated manual shutoff valve configured to permit or restrict the flow of fluid through an associated supply pipe. The unit comprises a housing, an attachment mechanism for securing the housing to at least one of the associated supply pipe or manual shutoff valve, and an actuator at least partially supported in the housing and having an output shaft extending from the housing. The output shaft includes a locating member supported at a distal end thereof for non-rotatingly engaging a surface of a valve handle of the associated manual shutoff valve adjacent a point of attachment of the handle to the associated manual shutoff valve, the locating member configured to center the output shaft over an axis of rotation of the handle of the associated manual shutoff valve.
WATER CIRCUIT PURGING SYSTEM
A water circuit purging system for purging water from a water circuit, comprising: a water discharge line; a flow directing device coupling a main water line to a water source and to the water discharge line, and movable between an operative configuration in which the main water line is in fluid communication with the water source, and a discharge configuration in which the main water line is in fluid communication with the water discharge line; a pump for pumping water from the water discharge line when the flow directing device is in the discharge configuration; a condition sensor for sensing a condition of the main water line; and a controller for receiving an indication of the sensed condition and to move the flow directing device from the operative configuration to the discharge configuration upon determination that the main water line is in a predetermined condition based on the sensed condition.
LIQUID FLOW PROCESSING FOR PLUMBING SYSTEMS
Systems and methods for determining leaks in a water distribution system using water devices within buildings. Pressure readings over time from two or more water devices. Egress readings and possibly other noise are removed from the pressure readings to isolate signals for leaks from outside of the buildings. Using the isolated signals, the location of the leak in the water distribution system can be approximated.
COLLECTING AND TRANSMITTING UTILITY METER DATA
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for collecting utility meter data are described. An example system may include a flow controller and a server. The flow controller is configured to communicate with a water meter for a property and connected to at least one water outlet of a plurality of water outlets. The server is coupled to one or more infrastructure databases and the flow controller. The server includes a non-transitory computer readable media and is configured to execute instructions stored on the non-transitory computer readable media. The instructions include receiving water usage data from the flow controller and transmitting the water usage data from the water meter for the property to a water utility company.
Method and apparatus for isolating a pressure-driven system from a source
An isolation device and method are provided for isolating a plumbing system of a premises from a potable water source if permissible input water pressure parameters are violated. After the plumbing system has achieved a desired input water pressure, the isolation device places the plumbing system in an isolated state and only removes the plumbing system from the isolated state if the isolation device detects a demand for water from the plumbing system and if the isolation device determines that permissible input water pressure parameters are not being violated. Once the demand no longer exists, the isolation device returns the plumbing system to the isolated state.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACKING WATER USAGE BY CATEGORY
A system is provided for tracking, in a distributed water infrastructure, water usage by category. The system may comprise at least one processor configured to receive from at least one sensor associated with the distributed water infrastructure signals indicative of water usage in the distributed water infrastructure. The system may, based on the signals indicative of water usage, construct a plurality of profiles. The system may assign each profile to one of a plurality of water usage categories. The system may collect, from the at least one sensor, signals indicative of water usage for substantially all water delivered through the distributed water infrastructure in a time period. The system may construct a plurality of water usage profiles in the aggregate, encompassing substantially all water delivered through the distributed water infrastructure in the time period. The system may assign each constructed water usage profile to one of the plurality of water usage categories. The system may output, for display, water usage for the time period for each of the plurality of water usage categories.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTIVELY GENERATING AN INSURANCE CLAIM
Methods and systems for predictively generating an insurance claim in response to detecting an imminent insurance-related event are provided. According to certain aspects, a smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may store a first set of data received from smart devices disposed on, or proximate to, a property. This data may be analyzed to detect that an insurance-related event is imminent and calculate a likelihood that a property owner will file an insurance claim in response to damage caused by the imminent insurance-related event. If there is a sufficient likelihood that an insurance claim will be filed, the smart home controller or remote processor may store a second set of data received from the smart devices. Subsequently, according to certain aspects, the second set of data may be analyzed to prepopulate an automatically generated insurance claim with information detailing damage to the property caused by the insurance-related event.
Service panel with microprocessor
A service panel for controlling at least one utility actuator to control the availability of a utility comprises a covered enclosure having an exterior region and an interior region, at least one readily accessible utility control providing ON and OFF request signals and a limited access control in the exterior region providing a temporary activate signal. The service panel has a controller and data storage programmed with code and data and control circuitry providing an “ON” control signal to the at least one utility actuator to switch the at least one utility actuator to the “ON” state, and the control circuitry providing an “OFF” control signal to the at least one utility actuator to switch the at least one utility actuator to an OFF state, the control circuitry further providing a re-key signal to the at least one actuator in response to activation of a switch.
