A formulation for delivering one or more health benefits to a human post-consumption and a method to create the formulation are described. The formulation comprises a shell extract of Nephelium lappaceum in a form of a powder or a liquid and at least one material. The at least one material comprises a polysaccharide, a protein, a lipid, and/or a food grade compound. The one or more health benefits to the human include support or regulation of blood sugar, blood pressure, body weight, performance/recovery from sports, immune health, anti-aging, pain management, and/or joint health.

The invention relates to an extract of flowers, preferably calyxes, from kapok trees, in particular Bombax costatum, to a process for preparing same and to the extract obtainable by said process. The invention also relates to a composition comprising such an extract, the composition being advantageously a cosmetic, pharmaceutical or dermatological composition. The present application relates to processing of cannabis material, particularly on a large scale, such as at an industrial level. Cannabis is typically a controlled and regulated substance, and has traditionally been processed in low quantities. A human-based manual and/or labour-intensive processing implementation is not scalable, and is therefore infeasible at an industrial level. Disclosed herein are systems and methods for facilitating industrial-scale processing of cannabis material.

A method of extracting active ingredients in mushrooms includes following steps: crushing a mushroom to obtain a crude mushroom crush; mixing the crude mushroom crush with deionized water to obtain a crude crush mixture; adding the crude crush mixture into a subcritical fluid extractor and extracting the crude crush mixture to obtain a crude mushroom extract; centrifuging the crude mushroom extract to harvest a first supernatant and a mushroom residue; mixing the mushroom residue with deionized water and a cellulase enzyme to obtain a reaction mixture; adding the reaction mixture into a high-pressure hydrolysis reactor and extracting the reaction mixture to obtain a hydrolysate; centrifuging the hydrolysate to obtain a second supernatant; and combining the first supernatant and the second supernatant, and then concentrating the combined first and second supernatants to obtain a mushroom extraction solution.

A use of a ramie extract in preparing a composition for anti-aging is provided. The present invention provides a crude extract, fractions and sub-fractions from the seaweed Fucus distichus (FD), method of preparation and its use for inhibiting the growth of microbial cells, particularly bacteria causing acne or nosocomial infections such as MRSA in humans or MRSP in dogs.
