System to prevent basement flooding from sewer backup
10837165 · 2020-11-17 ·

The invention relates to a building basement flood control system that eliminates termination of sanitary and storm sewer lines within a building. The control system includes a sanitary sewage basin system and a storm water sump pit installed in the basement floor. A sewage pump in the sewage basin pumps sewage through a discharge pipe extending to the exterior of the basement wall for discharge into an open end of an above ground vertical sanitary sewer line adjacent an exterior basement wall. The control system further includes a storm water sump pit installed in the basement floor. A sump pump in the sump pit pumps storm water through a discharge pipe extending to the exterior of the basement wall for discharge into an open end of an above ground vertical storm sewer line adjacent the exterior basement wall.

EMERGENCY BACKFLOW PREVENTING SYSTEM
20200291624 · 2020-09-17 ·

In an exemplary embodiment, an emergency backflow preventing system is disclosed that includes an inflatable bladder, an air supply line demountably coupled to the inflatable bladder, a valve demountably coupled to the air supply line, and an air source functionally coupled to the valve. The inflatable bladder includes a deflated state and an inflated state and is substantially void of air in the deflated state. The inflatable bladder is configured to be inserted within a sewage pipe when in the deflated state. The inflatable bladder is configured to contact a bore of the sewage pipe when in the inflated state and thereby wedge itself within the sewage pipe. The inflatable bladder comprises an elastic polymer. The valve comprises a Schrader valve and an air pressure gauge. A cable is positioned within the air supply line and is anchored within the valve and the inflatable bladder.

LOCKED BACKWATER VALVE
20200263410 · 2020-08-20 ·

A backwater valve has a hollow valve body with an inlet and an outlet and a valve member pivotally movable about a pivot axis disposed above the inlet. The valve member is movable between a closed position covering the inlet and an open position. The valve member has a specific gravity that is greater than water and has a basin that causes the valve member to be buoyant when the basin is filled with air. A releasable latch holds the valve member in the open position and releases the valve member when the valve member pivots to a release position. A rotational stop engages the valve member at a fill position permitting water to overflow into the basin.

Anti-rat valve and flap therefor
20200248825 · 2020-08-06 ·

An anti-rat flap member for sewer/draining pipe check is removably attached to the valve body. The valve body defines an interior volume therein which is preferably substantially open and unobstructed (except for the flap member). The flap member acts both as a seal to prevent the back-flow of sewage/drainage water and is normally in a closed position to prevent the passage of rats. The flap member comprises a row of sharp projections attached by known means (such as integrally molded, glued, rivetted or screwed) to the outermost side of the flap member facing the downstream section of the valve. The projections must be at an angle to the surface of the sheet, preferably at an angle which will prevent the rodent from gnawing and biting or even lifting the flap member with their mouth.

Plumbing float valve

A plumbing float valve is provided that includes: (i) a flexible stopper; (ii) a float portion; (iii) a gate; (iv) a gate mounting assembly; and (v) a hinge. The flexible stopper is configured to seal a pipe. The float portion is configured to float on water. The gate is configured to couple the rubber stopper on one side and the float portion on another side. The gate mounting assembly includes: (i) a pivot; (ii) a movable arm; and (iii) one or more latches. The movable arm is configured to rotate about the pivot, and the one or more latches are configured to prevent movement of the movable arm about the pivot. The hinge of the plumbing float valve couples the gate to the gate mounting assembly.

A NON-RETURN VALVE
20200224780 · 2020-07-16 ·

A non-return valve includes a cylindrical valve seat insert that defines a fluid passageway and a valve seat terminating the passageway. A valve closure includes a valve flap that is pivotal about a pivot region with respect to the valve seat between a closed condition in which a periphery of the valve flap operatively engages the valve seat to close the fluid passageway and an open condition in which fluid is permitted to flow through the passageway. A biasing mechanism is interposed between the valve flap and an internal surface of the insert to bias the valve flap into the closed condition, the biasing mechanism being configured and arranged with respect to the valve flap such that a level of bias is adjusted to facilitate movement of the valve flap into the open condition.

Contamination barrier for plumbing systems and method of using same
10676909 · 2020-06-09 · ·

A contamination unit for isolating a building from contamination of a sewer is disclosed. The contamination unit includes a housing with an inlet and an outlet, a trap assembly, and a fluid trigger. The inlet is in fluid communication with a fluid source, plumbing equipment, and/or condensating equipment to receive fluid. The housing has a reservoir to collect the fluid therein and to define a reservoir portion of a contamination barrier about the outlet. The trap assembly includes a trap conduit between the outlet and the sewer that is shaped to collect the fluid therein and define a trap portion of the contamination barrier. The fluid trigger is positionable about the housing to selectively release the fluid through the inlet and into the reservoir of the housing whereby the fluid in the contamination barrier is maintained to prevent the contamination from passing from the sewer into the building.
