A telescoping barrier assembly provides interlocking modules coupled together so as to slide vertically with respect to the other. The modules telescopically extend to a deployed position to form a barrier that withstands inertial and the external forces, and then retracts to a collapsed position. The modules include a base module and a plurality of deployable modules that are arranged in a nested configuration, such that each module slides in and out of an adjacent module. The base module has a mounting portion that may be subterranean. A lifting mechanism applies an axial force to the deployable modules to enable displacement between the operational and collapsed position. Spring biased lateral support members help the deployable modules remain in the extended position and a pulley system helps displace the modules to the collapsed position. An inner and outer seal inhibit liquid leakage between the module and between multiple adjacent assemblies.

A jackable building foundation includes a steel beam support frame platform to which one or more hydraulic jacks are attached. Vertical movement of the platform in response to jacking is constrained by cuboidal column guides at the four corners. Each of the column guides comprises two tiers of square roller frames, within each of which is an I-beam engaged between the flanges on either side by two rollers supported on horizontal axes. The orientations of the I-beams and rollers alternate orthogonally at each corner of the platform, so that torques generated by uneven jacking are suppressed and do not result in jamming of the platform as it rises.

Embodiments disclosed herein include a building support system that includes a plurality of caissons that extend below building grade to one or more of an engineered depth and a competent subsurface. Each caisson is topped with a caisson cap that includes various elements and mechanisms for engaging with a structural steel member of a building module. A screw jack that operates within each caisson supports one or more building modules. Multiple screw jacks in multiple caissons raise and lower the entire building structure under electrical control, including remote control.

DENSE EXTERIOR INSULATION SYSTEM BUILDING

A building having an insulation system is provided. The building can have an inner structure forming an interior space of the building, a plurality of standoff brackets extending parallel to an outer surface of the inner structure and spaced a spacing distance outward from the inner structure, exterior cladding attached to the standoff brackets, an insulation cavity formed between the inner structure and the exterior cladding, and insulation provided in the insulation cavity. The building can have a plurality of top standoff brackets and a plurality of side standoff brackets. The building can have a corner standoff bracket provided spaced outwards from a corner of the inner structure, extending the insulation cavity from one side of the inner structure, around the corner, and to an adjacent side of the inner structure. In a further aspect, a frame can support the inner structure.
