A method of treating equine encephalitis is provided. A composition having at least one cardiac glycoside, such as oleandrin, is used to treat a viral infection causing the encephalitis. The composition can further include at least one triterpene. Alternatively, the composition comprises at least one, at least two, or at least three triterpenes.

The present invention relates to a beet juice with an increased intestinal absorption rate, a method for manufacturing the beet juice, and use of the same, and more specifically, to a beet juice with an intestinal digestion and absorption rate increased by transforming high-molecular compounds into low-molecular compounds by low-temperature ripening a beet, with the earthy flavor removed by baking the beet, and with the earthy and bitter taste mitigated by adding a carrot juice or apple juice, and an anti-oxidative, or anti-hypertensive, healthy food composition using the beet juice.

An herbal tea product is provided to provide relief from lung and breathing conditions such as asthma. The herbal tea product may include oregano, peppermint, OSHA root, lungwort, eucalyptus, plantain leaf, chaparral, elecampane, lobelia, sage, licorice root, and thyme. The herbal ingredients may be included in equal amounts, such as 5 ounces. The OSHA root, elecampane, and/or licorice root may be crushed. Methods of making and using the herbal tea product are also disclosed. The herbal tea product may be placed into tea bags, and prepared for human consumption by placing the tea bag with herbal tea product in hot water that has been brought to a boil. The herbal tea product may be consumed in appropriate amounts, such as 16 ounces, twice a day for two weeks, and then once a day thereafter.

Extraction devices and related methods are disclosed. Extraction devices disclosed may include a hopper, a piston, and an evaporation chamber. The hopper may be filled with a plant material and a solvent. The piston may be removably housed within the hopper so as to form a hermetic seal with the hopper. Once a solvent and extract mixture is formed within the hopper, a valve in the bottom of the hopper may be opened to allow the solvent and extract mixture to flow into the evaporation chamber via gravity. The remaining plant material may be compressed by the piston to remove any remaining solvent and extract mixture. The solvent may be evaporated in the evaporation chamber leaving a purified plant extract. Various types of plant materials may be used within the hopper. Various types of solvents may be used as well, including heptane and hexane.

Solid compositions including a plurality of cannabinoids and methods of preparing such solid compositions are provided. The plurality of cannabinoids in the solid compositions are characterized by a chemical signature which is substantially identical to the chemical signature of cannabinoids in an extract of the Cannabis plant thereby exerting the entourage effect.

The description contained herein describes methods for making a purified kava composition that is free or substantially free of flavokavain A and flavokavain B. The present invention relates to compositions comprising 1,2,4-trioxane compounds and chlorogenic acids. The invention further provides a method for the stabilization of 1,2,4-trioxane compounds against degradation, in particular against thermal degradation or degradation induced by reducing agents such as reducing carbohydrates, reducing sugars, electromagnetic radiation or heavy metal ions.
