Insulated concrete masonry system
A insulated masonry wall system having insulation blocks between structural and face blocks to provide structures that are strong, inexpensive, avoid thermal bridges, and resist transmission of heat. The walls are attractive and versatile, and an enormous variety of decorative face members may be utilized. The face blocks are attached to the structural blocks to prevent facing materials from falling even if fire destroys the insulation blocks between the structural blocks and the facing. The system resists water penetration and effectively drains water that does penetrate any portion of the system.
LATERAL CONFINEMENT DEVICE, ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD OF USE WITH CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
Devices, assemblies, and methods for increasing lateral confinement, strength, and/or ductility in construction materials are disclosed. A ring with a continuous outer perimeter that is sized to fit at least partially within a perimeter of a piece of construction material, such as a construction block formed from masonry materials, may be used. The ring may be formed from a material that provides a higher tensile strength than one or more corresponding construction materials, so that when the ring and the one or more construction materials are assembled together, the ring provides increased resistance to lateral forces. This may be used to provide a structure with greater strength and durability.

Foundation anchor system and anchor installation method using the same
A foundation anchor system for a building structure is disclosed herein. The foundation anchor system includes a positioning member for setting and aligning a sill plate anchor component in a foundation wall of a building structure, an anchor member configured to be disposed in the foundation wall, and an anchor bolt configured to secure a sill plate member to the foundation wall. The positioning member includes a body portion, first and second downwardly extending tab portions for overlapping opposite sides of the foundation wall, and an anchor component engagement portion configured to removably engage an end of a sill plate anchor or an end of a sill plate anchor bolt. The anchor member includes a tubular body portion with a threaded interior bore, and a frustoconical skirt portion for retaining the anchor member in the foundation wall. An installation method utilizing the foundation anchor system is also disclosed herein.

Crumb rubber-containing composites and masonry blocks thereof
A cementitious composite and cured masonry block made from the cementitious composite. The cementitious composite contains a cement, a non-rubber aggregate, a crumb rubber and at least one of cement kiln dust and limestone powder. The crumb rubber aggregate is extracted from scrap tires after being processed and then mixed in specified percentages with the aggregate, the cement and water, then cured in forms to make the masonry blocks. In the present disclosure sand, which is used in conventional masonry blocks, is at least partially replaced with crumb rubber to produce a sand-free or sand-reduced masonry block that contains crumb rubber. The crumb rubber masonry blocks satisfy the ASTM non-load bearing requirements. The use of crumb rubber decreases the unit weight and increases thermal resistance of the masonry blocks. The use of cement kiln dust or limestone as a partial replacement of cement will lead to decrease in the cost. The use of industrial waste materials, such as crumb rubber, limestone powder and cement kiln dust, will lead to economic and environmental benefits.
Concrete block insulation
An insulation system for a concrete block having an open end and a closed end, the insulation system including a single sheet of a foam material configured to have opposite end portions with a middle portion intermediate the end portions and a hinge defined between each of the end portions and the middle portion to enable the sheet to be folded so that the middle portion is disposed perpendicular to the end portions to render the sheet in a u-shaped orientation so as to be insertable into the open end of the concrete block; and a panel of foam material configured as a rectangle to conform to the closed end of the concrete block. The sheet of foam material is sized to provide a snug interference fit with the open end of the concrete block when folded into the u-shaped orientation and the panel is sized to provide a snug interference fit with the closed end of the concrete block. The sheet of foam material and the panel of foam material are each made of a closed cell flexible foam.
