11431282 · 2022-08-30 · ·

One embodiment can provide a solar roof tile. The solar roof tile can include a front cover, a back cover, one or more photovoltaic structures positioned between the front cover and the back cover, and an optical filter positioned between the front cover and the photovoltaic structures. The optical filter is configured to block light within a predetermined spectral range, thereby preventing the light from reflecting off surfaces of the photovoltaic structures to exit the solar roof tile.

Photovoltaic module with light-scattering encapsulant providing shingle-mimicking appearance

A photovoltaic module having a superstrate layer, an encapsulant having an upper layer and a lower layer, the upper layer being juxtaposed with a lower surface of the superstrate layer, and a photovoltaic layer intermediate the upper layer and the lower layer of the encapsulant. A first portion of the upper layer of the encapsulant includes a first light scattering value as measured in accordance with an ASTM E430 standard, and a second portion of the upper layer of the encapsulant has a second light scattering value as measured in accordance with the ASTM E430 standard. The second light scattering value is greater than the first light scattering value.

Photovoltaic shingles and methods of installing same

A system includes a plurality of photovoltaic shingles installed on a roof deck, each of the shingles having a first layer including a head lap portion, and a second layer including at least one solar cell. A first photovoltaic shingle overlays at least a part of the head lap portion of a second photovoltaic shingle. The system includes at least one wireway installed proximate to a first end of at least the first photovoltaic shingle.

A seal includes an elongated body having a first end and a second end, an interior surface and an exterior surface, and a hole extending from the first end to the second end. The hole defines the interior surface of the body. The seal further includes a first flange disposed adjacent the hole on the first end of the body and a second flange disposed adjacent the hole on the second end of the body.

WATERSHEDDING FEATURES FOR ROOFING SHINGLES

A system includes a plurality of roofing shingles installed on a roof deck. Each of the roofing shingles includes first and second ends, first and second edges, a head lap, a reveal portion, a first side lap at the first end, and a second side lap at the second end. The second side lap includes a first surface, which has an adhesive. The first side lap of a first one of the roofing shingles overlays and is attached to the second side lap of a second one of the roofing shingles to form a sealed portion between the head lap of the first one of the roofing shingles and the head lap of the second one of the roofing shingles.

ROOF MOUNT ASSEMBLY

A mount assembly is provided for mounting a structure to a roof having a top surface. The mount includes a flashing including an aperture; a bracket including a first portion and a second portion, the first portion having an opening and a countersink extending around the opening, the second portion extending at an angle away from the flashing, the second portion including a slot configured to be coupled to the structure; a fastener extending through the aperture and through the opening of the bracket; and a seal extending around the aperture and positioned between the flashing and the first portion of the bracket, the seal engaging the countersink of the bracket and being compressed against the flashing.

SOLAR ENERGY ROOF TILE, SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING ENERGY FROM SOLAR RADIATION
20220209708 · 2022-06-30 ·

A solar energy roof tile, thermally and/or electrically conductively connected to an adjacent solar energy roof tile, includes a lower face for placing on at least some regions of a roof construction, an upper face opposite the lower face formed at least in some regions by a solar energy utilisation module, two opposite lateral walls, a rear face connecting the two lateral walls, and a front face opposite the rear face that connects the lateral walls. The two lateral walls, the rear face and front face together connect the lower and upper faces, such that a cavity is formed between the two lateral walls, the rear face, front face, and lower and upper faces. The lower face has, in the region of the front face, a lower opening for providing access. The upper face has, in the region of the rear face, an upper opening for providing access into the cavity.

Vegetative Roofing and Siding Shingles

Embodiments relate to an enhanced method for installing vegetation on sloped roofs or walls by incorporating waterproofing and support for vegetation in the same shingle avoiding the need for a separate waterproofing membrane. The design is for a roofing shingle that can be made out of any water resistant plastic, plastic composite, metal or material with a reasonably low coefficient of thermal expansion. The shingle has an exposure that has a box for supporting drainage media, soil and vegetation and installs in a traditional method with a nail gun and with the normal head-lap for weatherproofing.
