Roof integrated photovoltaic system

A roof integrated photovoltaic system includes a starter bar having a foot base and configured to be installed to a roof deck, a plurality of water shedding layers, and a photovoltaic module. One of the plurality of water shedding layers is configured to be installed over the foot base of the starter bar, and one of another of which is configured to overlap and be installed over the one of the plurality of water shedding layers. The system further includes a foot module configured to be attached to an upper portion of the photovoltaic module. A lower portion of the photovoltaic module is configured to align with the foot base of the starter bar, and the foot module is configured to be affixed on a last overlapping layer of the plurality of water shedding layers to the roof deck.

Provided are roofing membranes comprising pressure-sensitive adhesives particularly adapted for use at cold temperature, and methods for using same. In one aspect, the disclosure provides a roofing membrane comprising: a bituminous sheet having a lower bituminous surface and an upper bituminous surface; and a non-bituminous cold-temperature pressure-sensitive adhesive disposed on the lower bituminous surface, the upper bituminous surface, or both, wherein the cold-temperature pressure-sensitive adhesive has an average adhesion of at least 10 lbs/ft (146 N/m) at 2° C. as measured by a two hour T-peel test.

In some embodiments, the adhesive formulation may further comprise additional components, such as but not limited to, at least one moisture scavenger, at least one adhesion promoter, at least one catalyst, at least one filler, at least one plasticizer, at least one antioxidant, or any combination thereof. In some embodiments, the adhesive formulation may exclude a low viscosity polymer. In some embodiments, the adhesive formulation may include a low viscosity polymer in no more than a specified amount. At least one method of using the adhesive formulation and at least one roofing system comprising the adhesive formulation are also described herein.

In some embodiments, the method includes preparing fragments into an assembly; mixing the fragments and an adhesive into a blended core furnish; applying the adhesive to a top side of a bottom layer fabric in the assembly; forming a core mat of the blended core furnish on top of the adhesive; applying the adhesive to a top side of the core mat; applying a surface layer fabric on the top side of the adhesive; pressing the assembly; and cutting and trimming the assembly to form panels.
