Self ventilating roof system
20180087280 · 2018-03-29 ·

A self-ventilating roofing system that comprises a rigid deck that is connected to the roof support system and has a lower horizontal opening parallel to the eave, on both slopes, and above the attic space. There is also an upper opening on either side of the ridge. A radiant barrier comprising of a reflective layer applied over the roof deck. A slice is made in the radiant barrier over the lower and upper opening of the deck to allow air to enter the lower opening and exit the upper opening. An insulated panel with vertical grooves is installed over the radiant barrier with the groove side face down. This insulated panel is made of a type of insulated material. A metal drip edge is then installed along the eave. This drip edge should be installed with an air gap between the facia and the drip edge sufficiently wide enough to allow air to enter. A vented ridge vent is then installed at the ridge to allow for the weather proof exit of the air. When a metal roof is being installed then the metal panels can be attached on top of the insulated panel. When an asphalt shingle or wood shake roof is being installed then a nailable panel must be installed over the insulated panel. The insulated panel can be made of rigid insulated pane or a flexible insulated panel with the ability to be rooled up for ease of installation.

Quiet-acting valved vent
09915072 · 2018-03-13 ·

An airflow-controlling valve is described for a soffit vent in which a one-piece valve member normally lies below a housing, both parts being deeply hill-and-valley deformed to give ample surface area for apertures essentially equal to the full area of the vent opening itself, allowing two-way venting flow unless and until inward-acting pressure reaches a certain strength, wherewith the valve is pushed up to close quietly against the housing to block flow; the valve falling opening again if the pressure differential reverses or simply subsides below that certain strength. An immediate need for the device is in ventilating houses and like building structures, and in particular in ventilating roof spaces such as attics to make the structures much more resistant to hurricane damage firstly by blocking ruinous rain entry while also harnessing the winds to prevent roof space pressurization, or even (given other openings are valved or closed off) to strongly depressurize the roof space by preventing inward airflow but allowing outward flow to wind-depressurized zones bounding the house.

Method of installing exhaust tube

A method of installing an exhaust tube is implemented by inserting an exhaust tube into an exhaust pipe that leads from the inside of a building to the outside thereof. Utilizing an already-placed exhaust pipe, a new exhaust tube is inserted into this exhaust pipe. The exhaust tube is installed according to a procedure of: performing, on the inside of the building, an operation of inserting a new exhaust tube into the already-placed exhaust pipe; performing, on the outside of the building, an operation of fixing the inserted exhaust tube to the exhaust pipe; and performing, on the inside of the building, an operation of connecting the fixed exhaust tube to an exhaust vent of a combustion apparatus.

ENTANGLED MESH ROOF VENT WITH INTEGRATED EXTERNAL BAFFLE

A roof vent includes a continuous elongate mat composed of a mesh of randomly oriented fibers. The mat has a top surface, a bottom surface, and a first longitudinally extending side surface. A portion of the mat proximate to and forming the first longitudinally extending side surface is configured as a wind baffle. The wind baffle includes a wind deflector lip, formed from the mesh, which extends above the top surface of the mat.

The present disclosure provides a venting material that includes a web of extruded polymer monofilaments covered by a screen. The polymer monofilaments are heat welded at junctions to form a matrix of tangled monofilaments. The web allows for direct pathways for ventilation without the issues of clogging or ice dams. The screen allows for air passage while providing a barrier for insects and other outside elements. The venting material may be included in a roof ventilation system between vertical side walls and a fascia of a building. The venting material may be installed between vertical side walls and a fascia of a building as a method for ventilating a roof of the building.

FASCIA VENT SYSTEM
20180023302 · 2018-01-25 ·

A building structure is provided that is adapted to allow for ventilation of vapors is provided. The building structure has a roof extending over one or more vertical side walls. The roof has a roof sheathing member overlying the roof rafters. A fascia is secured to the outer ends of the roof rafters and at least one portion of the fascia is spaced from the outer ends of the rafters. A fascia vent strip is interposed between the fascia and the outer ends of the rafters to provide for the flow of vapor therebetween and into the attic. The fascia vent strip may have a series of parallel grooves. The grooves are adapted to receive the outer ends of the rafters with an interference fit to at least temporarily hold the fascia vent strip to the ends of the rafters during installation. Alternatively, a series of parallel glue stripes located at two different on-center intervals can be provided.

Cooling system for buildings and method
09874361 · 2018-01-23 ·

A cooling system for a building including a lower space and an upper space with a ceiling positioned therebetween. The lower space has a window and an opening in the ceiling is spaced from the window so that the lower space is in air communication with the upper space. The window is covered by water absorbent, porous material having a water source in communication therewith. An opening from the upper space to the outdoors is positioned the length of the upper space from the opening in the ceiling. A fan system is positioned in the upper space to draw air form the lower space and directs the air out the opening to the outdoors. Whereby air is drawn through the water absorbent, porous material, through the opening in the ceiling, and travels the length of the upper space before exiting through the opening from the upper space to the outdoors.

Roof baffle

A baffle, for use with a roof deck, includes a main body portion and an attachment surface. The baffle is installable from the exterior side of a roof deck through an opening in the deck to form an air flow path between the interior side of the roof deck and the main body portion. The attachment surface may be attachable to the roof deck while the main body extends along the interior side of the roof deck.

Rodent shields are constructed from various gauge metal and are shaped to fit substantially flush against vertical members to prevent roof rats (Rattus Rattus) from traveling to and from their homes located in the upper parts of structures. The rodent shield can be installed on different diameter size vertical members by simply cutting the housing portions at the required length. The rodent shield is wide and the surface is sleek to prevent roof rats from firmly gripping the shield. The rodent shield can be used individually or used with multiple rodent shield.
