Systems and methods for monitoring use of rail on a footpath
A safety rail monitoring system, and associated methods of operation, for monitoring use of a safety rail that borders a footpath to help prevent injuries while the user traverses the footpath. The safety system includes a sensor system for detecting the presence of a user on the footpath and the presence of a contact by the user on the safety rail. A sensor observation system in communication with the sensor system receives signals indicating whether the user is present on the footpath and whether the user is holding on to the safety rail. If the user is not holding on to the safety rail, the sensor observation system generates an alert signal to the user to remind the user to hold the safety rail. In some embodiments, the safety system may include a barrier that prevents the user from continuing along the footpath without contacting the safety rail.
Platform system
A platform system comprising a platform structure having at least one modular platform unit with platform connection features on a side surface thereof to which other components can be connected, the other components including at least two of the following: another modular platform unit, a stair unit, a tower unit, a handrail unit, and a ladder unit. A stair assembly is connected to the platform structure via said connection features, the stair assembly comprising a plurality of stair units connected together to provide a number of steps equal to the sum of steps of the stair units.
Bracket for stair railings
A bracket for connecting a stair rail to a post comprises a base and a cover adapted to slide over the base. The base comprises a plate and two opposed sidewalls. The plate has first and second surfaces. The sidewalls extend from the first surface of the plate. Two plate protrusions are formed on the second surface of the plate, with the two plate protrusions extending for at least a portion of a height of the plate. The cover comprises a roof, two opposed cover walls extending from the roof, and two flanges. Each of the cover walls comprise a cover wall edge, with each of the flanges extend from the cover wall edge for at least a portion of a height of the cover wall. The flanges are adapted to engage with the plate protrusions when the cover is slid over the base.
SUPPORT STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
Disclosed is a support structure that includes a support frame or a support rod or both. The support frame includes a flange, a tube, and/or a lock element. The tube includes a first end such that the support end is coupled, then welded, to the first end. The ground end of the support rod is coupled to a flange then welded together. A lock element may be coupled to the tube such that the lock element exhibits a locked position and an unlocked position. The support rod is configured to slide within the existing hollow handrail post. The lock element may be used on hollow or solid existing handrail posts to lock repair foot to post securely.
Rail cable tensioner
A cable railing assembly having a plurality of posts, an expandable cable guide assembly, and a tensioning apparatus, and a method of assembling the cable railing assembly. The expandable cable guide assembly includes a pair of cable braces with a cable extending in a serpentine fashion between the cable braces. The tensioning apparatus includes a tensioner base, a tensioner body, a compression spring positioned between the tensioner base and the tensioner body, a movable carriage slidably mounted adjacent the tensioner body and comprising a cable clamp for gripping the cable, and a threaded adjuster secured to the body and operative for moving the movable carriage along the body.
