OPTICALLY-TRANSFORMING NAIL COATINGS, METHODS, AND SYSTEMS
Compositions, kits and methods of transforming the color appearance of a nail are provided. Methods include applying a color-transforming composition to a nail having a decorative coating with substantially uniform color appearance formed thereon. The color-transforming composition comprises solvent; a color system comprising effect colorants; a suspending system comprising hydrophilic silica; and a film-forming system, wherein the color-transforming composition is substantially free of clays.
Reducing colour loss from a dyed material by using an amine salt of a carboxylic acid
A method of combatting colour loss from a dyed material, the method comprising contacting the material with a composition comprising an amine salt of a carboxylic acid wherein the carboxylic acid has 4 to 10 carbon atoms.
Kit for tooth whitening
A multi-phase oral composition and electromagnetic radiation source for whitening teeth.
METHOD FOR TREATING AND COLORING HAIR COMPRISING UN-PIGMENTED HAIR
Described herein is a method for treating and coloring hair including un-pigmented hair. The method includes (a) providing a first composition including one or more heavy metal ion sequestrants; (b) applying the first composition to the hair; (c) providing a second composition including one or more weak acids having a pKa from 2.5 to 5; (d) applying the second composition to the hair; (e) providing a third composition including one or more direct dyes chosen from nitro dye, disperse dye, cationic dye, acid dye, basic dye, neutral azo dye and mixtures thereof, and (f) applying the third composition to the hair. The third composition is able to decrease the reflectance of un-pigmented hair in a wavelength range from 530 nm to 670 nm.
MULTI-PHASE ORAL COMPOSITION FOR DELIVERING ORAL CARE ACTIVE AGENTS
A multi-phase oral composition for delivering active agents.
Personal care composition containing yeast/polyphenol ferment extract
A method of producing yeast-polyphenol ferment extract includes growing the cells of a yeast of pichia genus in a growth media to late-logarithmic growth phase, in which the carbon source in the media is exhausted; exposing the cells to a non-cytotoxic dose of polyphenol; and extracting cytoplasmic and extra-cellular components of the exposed yeast cells from the growth media.
Treatment agent and cosmetic composition comprising co-modified organopolysiloxane
A surface treatment agent or a powder treatment agent comprising a co-modified organopolysiloxane is disclosed. The co-modified organopolysiloxane is represented by the general formula: R.sup.1.sub.aR.sup.2.sub.bQ.sub.cSiO.sub.(4−a−b−c)/2. The co-modified organopolysiloxane has a number average molecular weight of less than 4500 and includes a long-chain alkyl group and a polyoxyalkylene group in the molecule.
Cosmetic composition comprising biodegradable polymers
Disclosed is a cosmetic composition for, e.g., use on eyelashes, that includes a latex polymer and a polyhydroxyalkanoate, where the polyhydroxyalkanoate is present in the composition in a total amount of between about 1% and about 5% by weight, and the monomers of the polyhydroxyalkanoate have carbon chain lengths of between 3 and 5.
Synergistic Compositions That Reduce UV-Induced Lipid Peroxidation, Formulations and Related Methods
Disclosed is a composition of a synergistically effective ratio of an hydroxamic acid, salt and/or a complex thereof and an antioxidant. The composition is effective to reduce or prevent lipid peroxidation upon exposure of a lipid to UV light. Personal care and other formulations are included within the scope of the invention, as are the related methods of increasing the antioxidant potential of an antioxidant, of reducing a rate of peroxidation of constituent lipids in a personal care formulation over a time period and of reducing peroxidation of lipids within mammalian skin cells.
Extended release insect repellant or fragrance compositions
Compositions are provided that provide release of insect repellant or fragrance over an extended period of time. The compositions comprise a hydrophilically-modified cross-linked silicone elastomer and an acrylic rheology modifier.
