Joist anchor

A system for mounting a stanchion on a structure includes a base plate, a stanchion coupled to the base plate, and a number of base plate flanges coupled to the base plate. The base plate flanges to couple the base plate to at least one joist of the structure. The stanchion protrudes through the surface of the structure to a first side of the structure while the base plate and the base plate flanges remain on a second side of the surface of the structure.

A fall protection apparatus includes a heavy support base with a pivotal mast having a top member for rotation around the axis of the mast carrying a series of booms pivotal about respective vertical axes, each having an end coupling member for receiving a fall restraint harness. Each boom is formed by a tube which fractures on a fall and an elongate stainless steel strap inside the tube which bends without fracturing. The mast includes a series of telescopic rectangular mast sections with a winch driven cable and pulley arrangement for extending the first section which acts to pull the second inner section to the extended position as the first inner section moves out of the outer section. Each section includes first and second pulleys mounted at the same face of the section with the cable located between the face of the section and the face of the next section.

This invention provides fall protection systems comprising a suspension fabric, supported by a grid-work of longitudinal and lateral bands, in metal building construction. The fall protection system uses safety clips to attach lateral bands to intermediate purlins, and also provides novel attachments of the lateral bands to eaves and ridges whereby the respective eave and/or the ridge absorbs an enhanced portion of the force of impact when an object falls onto the fall protection system. The invention further provides methods of installing such systems, and buildings embodying such systems.

"Vacuum Anchor System"
20170144001 · 2017-05-25 ·

A vacuum anchor for securing a fall protection system to a surface has a gas inlet to receive pressurised gas from a gas container and generates a vacuum to secure the anchor to a surface. An attachment enables a fall protection system to be connected to the anchor, the attachment being rotatably mounted to the anchor. A container mounting device is provided for mounting the gas container to the anchor in connection with the gas inlet, the container mounting means being rotatable with the rotatable. Alternatively or additionally, the gas inlet is coaxial with the axis of rotation of the attachment means.

An anchor for a safety line for use in roofing construction and maintenance activities. The anchor includes a hooked body having a shank and a point. A safety line is coupleable between a free end of the shank and a user. An anchor plate is rotatably and pivotably coupled to the point via a joint disposed therebetween. The anchor is disposable over a peak of a roof with the anchor plate on a first side of the roof and the body extending over the peak toward a second side. A user tethered to the anchor may work on the second side of the roof; pivotal and rotational movement of the body relative to the anchor plate enabled by the joint aids to maintain the body generally in line with the safety line while the anchor plate remains frictionally engaged with the first side of the roof.

Mounting device and fall protection system

A mounting device for mounting on a wall of an object comprises an at least substantially form-retaining base part (20) with at least one mounting member (10) and a substantially flexible flap (30), a distal part (32) of which extends substantially freely and laterally from the base part (20) and which is intended and adapted to be connected firmly to a surface of the wall of the object. The base part (20) comprises a form-retaining body which is formed integrally with a solid monolithic core, wherein a proximal part (31) of the flap (30) is incorporated at least substantially tightly in the core material of the body.
