Lighting system and a method for improving growth conditions for plants
A lighting system is for providing photosynthetically stimulating artificial light to a specified target area where such artificial light is needed. The lighting system has at least one luminaire with a light source. The luminaire emits photosynthetically stimulating light at a narrow beam angle of less than and including 20° (FWHM). The lighting system has means for positioning the at least one luminaire at a distance of minimum 20 m from the specified target area measured in a light beam direction, and the luminaire is adapted to illuminate the specified target area with a minimum photosynthetic photon flux density of 140 μmol/s/m.sup.2. A method is for improving the growth conditions for plants in need of light at a specified target area by exposing the plants to a photosynthetically artificial light from a light source.
Method and apparatus for supporting and moving a long-span structure on a rail system
A long-span structure engaged with a plurality of first and second transportation devices for moving the long span structure. The transportation devices travel along parallel, longitudinally-oriented first and second tracks; moving the structure between a first position and a second position. A first region of the structure is fixed to each first transportation device. A second region of the structure is secured to each second transportation device via a bearing assembly. The first and second regions of the structure are laterally spaced apart. When the long-span structure thermally expands or contracts, a slider plate of each bearing assembly moves laterally relative to the rest of the bearing assembly. Growth of the structure in a predictable direction is forced by keeping the first region thereof fixed against lateral movement with the first transportation devices and allowing movement of the second region thereof via the bearing assemblies on the second transportation devices.

METHOD OF MOUNTING A ROOF STRUCTURE
For an enclosure including a ground area (2), a spectator area (3) around the ground area and a plurality of bearing points (12) around and above the spectator area, the method of mounting a roof structure comprises: assembling a tension ring (14) at the level of the ground area, the tension ring comprising at least one first cable extending along the tension ring and a plurality of connectors (15) spaced along the tension ring; attaching a plurality of second cables (13) to the plurality of connectors, each second cable having a first end connected to a respective one of the connectors and extending radially and outwardly from the tension ring, each second cable being associated with a respective one of the bearing points (12); and lifting the tension ring by pulling the connectors (15) by the second cables (13).
