Methods of utilizing coal combustion residuals and structures constructed using such coal combustion residuals

A process of fabricating a static structure including an interior volume that includes the steps of mixing coal combustible residual (CCR) with structural reinforcing materials to form a construction material and utilizing the construction material to fabricate exterior enclosure-forming components of the static structure. The enclosure-forming components are sufficiently reinforced, enhanced and/or thick to provide protection against exterior forces directed against the structure.

Modular security system for above-ground structures
09745769 · 2017-08-29 ·

A method for on-site assembly of a shelter for an above-ground structure to protect the structure from blast, wind, fire or other physical hazards. A pyramidal shelter with triangular or rectangular base is formed by joining side panels to each other. Each side panel includes a triangular frame covered, except at access hatch, observation port and door openings, with either steel plate or diamond steel mesh to which blast-resistant, fire-resistant or other kinds of coatings or panels are applied. A corner anchor assembly to support each corner of a shelter has a lower plate, an overlying split plate, and a pair of upstanding, anchor rods attached to the split plates for insertion into hollow, lower portions of side beams of adjacent side panels. The corner anchor assemblies facilitate expansion of an assembled shelter by addition of more modular components.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing building panels
09732525 · 2017-08-15 ·

A method of manufacturing building panels includes assembling a frame of a building panel. The frame defines at least one cavity and at least one injection aperture in fluid communication with the at least one cavity. The method also includes positioning the frame on one of a base and a shelf of a multi-panel consolidation device having a plurality of shelves, with the shelves being in an expanded configuration, and at least substantially enclosing the at least one cavity. The method also includes forcing the shelves of the multi-panel consolidation device into a collapsed configuration, and injecting an expandable polymer through the at least one injection aperture into the at least one cavity. The method further includes forcing the shelves into an expanded configuration after a predetermined period of time selected to permit the expandable polymer to form a foam bonded to the frame.

A shielding system includes a plurality of transportable modules, wall panels, or pods that are connectable to form a containment area and to define a radiation barrier. Each of the plurality of transportable modules has a first radiation wall defining the containment area, a second radiation wall spaced apart from the second wall, and a radiation shielding fill material positioned between the first radiation shielding wall and the second radiation shielding wall. The radiation shielding fill material includes one of a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) filling a portion of a void between the first radiation wall and the second radiation wall, or a non-Newtonian fluid completely filling the void between the first radiation wall and the second radiation wall. A quantity of the radiation shielding fill material is sufficient to substantially reduce measurable radiation level outside the containment area.

MISSION CONFIGURABLE SHELTER

A lightweight transportable containerized shelter includes wall panels made of a non-metal composite material coated at least on its inner face with a metal layer for EMI protection. The several wall panels are secured to a metal structural frame without the use of fasteners so as to define a containerized transportable shelter. The shelter meets ISO standards 668 and 1496. The shelter provides a continuous barrier to electromagnetic signals. Moreover, the containerized shelter is amenable to nine high stacking as required for ISO certification.
