A multi-purpose shelter includes a covering fabric, a first rod member, a plurality of loop straps, a plurality of cords and at least a weight member. The covering fabric has a plurality of side edges, and a first pocket extending along a transverse direction thereof. The first rod member has a forward end, a backward end, and a main portion extending between the forward end and the backward end. The main portion passes through the first pocket of the covering fabric, and is folded to form a curved contour between the forward end and the backward end to be erected on a support surface. Each cord connects the covering fabric to a support surface in a stretched manner. The weight member is detachably attached on one of the forward end and the backward end of the first rod member for providing a secure support to the multi-purpose shelter.

A collapsible structure connection system including apparatus for connecting rod segments and apparatus for holding and organizing rod segments. An apparatus for connecting rod segments, such as a pole tip and final rod segment, or two rod segments, may have a pair of mated rod segments and a spring-loaded push-button locking mechanism, with the rod segments connected using an elastomeric connector attached to each rod segment at adjacent, opposing ends. The elastomeric connector may be attached to and held in place against the rod segment using an attachment assembly that may be threaded or unthreaded, and that may mate, or not mate, within the rod segment upon securing the attachment assembly to the rod segment. The spring-loaded push-button locking mechanism may have a spring-loaded push-button seated on a dowel of a male body, and a cavity aperture traversing a dowel cavity of a female body.

Portable shelters

A portable shelter includes a frame structure with a plurality of pole structures. In some embodiments, a pole structure includes telescopically movable pole portions and a spring-biasing mechanism configured to bias one pole portion away from the other. In some embodiments, a center hub structure of the portable shelter includes a locking mechanism for engaging one of the pole portions to interfere with telescopic movement of the pole structure. In some embodiments, a pole structure includes a flexible portion attached to a first rigid portion, and a second rigid portion that is movable relative to the first rigid portion. The second rigid portion is pivotable or telescopically movable between a first position in which the second rigid portion overlaps the first rigid portion such that the flexible portion is free to flex, and a second position in which the second rigid portion overlaps and restrains the flexible portion.
