Barbed Stake
20170268253 · 2017-09-21 ·

A barbed stake is an apparatus used to secure tarps, tents, and other items to the ground or to other surfaces. The barbed stake includes a stake body, a head, a stake tip, and a plurality of barbs. The head and the stake tip are positioned on opposite ends of the stake body. The head provides a large area to strike for driving the barbed stake into a surface. The head may also be used to pry the barbed stake out of a surface. The stake tip provides a pointed end to the barbed stake which helps the barbed stake to pierce a surface. Each of the plurality of barbs is laterally connected to the stake body and is aligned parallel along the stake body. In order to balance the barbed stake, each of the plurality of barbs is diametrically opposed to a corresponding barb.

Anchoring means for anchoring a guy line of a tent to the ground are formed by two equally large elongated tent pegs which two are in contact with a main surface and can be moved in longitudinal direction relative to each other. This tent peg is in contact with the ground only with one of its main surfaces and with the other main surface is relatively easily movable over the other tent peg. After the tent peg has been extracted from the ground along the tent peg, the tent peg will be extracted from the ground by further pulling at tent peg. This tent peg is also clear of the ground on a main surface, where the tent peg has just been located and can therefore be pulled out of the ground in a simple manner.

A portable canopy shelter assembly is provided. The portable canopy shelter assembly includes a canopy that is dimensioned and adapted to engage a center pole and a plurality of outer poles. Adjustable tension members are provided for structural support through engaging the outer poles and peripheral edges of the canopy in an open condition. Attachment points connect the peripheral edges and the outer poles through a sandwiched pin configuration. The poles are collapsible, and so the canopy can be folded and rolled up in a storage condition enveloping the poles and the adjustable tension members into a kit dimensioned and adapted to fit in a backpack.

Method of using a hydraulic stake puller

A method for using a tool to extract tent stakes from the ground is disclosed. The tool has a portion that houses the motor and hydraulic fluid tank, and a hydraulic cylinder portion the user holds against a tent stake and operates to pull the tent stake. Hydraulic hoses connect the two portions. Separating the motor from the hydraulic cylinder allows the user to manipulate just the portion performing work on the tent stake without having to also lift or stabilize the larger and heavier motor portion. Rotating a handle causes the hydraulic cylinder to extend or retract. A hand guard may be present to prevent accidental crush injuries. The tool is designed to fully extract a stake in two strokes of the hydraulic cylinder.

A mounting base retains a leg of a tent in place on a seat pan/plank and a coupling secures the mounting base to the seat pan/plank to securely mount the tent to the seat. The mounting base includes a mounting plate with an open-ended slot that is sufficiently large to laterally slidingly receive the tent leg and sufficiently small to retain a foot of the tent leg from longitudinally passing through the slot. Typical embodiments include a recessed portion of the mounting base that receives the tent leg foot when the tent leg is in the slot, the coupling provided by a strap that mounts the mounting base to the seat pan, and a closure that closes off the slot to retain the tent leg in the slot, with the strap double functioning as the coupling and the closure in some embodiments.
